Resistance 3 Gets A Teaser Trailer

Insomniac Games have released the teaser trailer for Resistance 3 that was shown at the end of Sony’s Gamescom event this evening.

There’s a healthy dose of atmospheric music and landscape shots, and a wholly unhealthy dose of alien occupation. I won’t spoil any more for you, but a billboard featured in the trailer does seem to confirm that the series is indeed heading to New York for its latest entry. Enjoy.

Resistance 3 is expected sometime next year.

  1. So was the R2 ending really the end of Nathan Hale then? The trailer felt almost like a prequel as it had a real old worldly feel to it, or maybe that’s just the post-apocalyptic nature of the ‘conquered’ Resistance universe? Maybe they are going for a bit of a Bioshock style reboot for the 3rd game, with less focus on the military side and more focus on the civilian side…

    • The whole series is set in 50s and 60s isn’t it? It’s going to be an “old world” era.

  2. Yessssssssssssssssssssssss!

  3. My excitement and hype has just gone from zero to completely hyped from that trailer. One of the best trailers I’ve ever seen if I’m honest and completely what I want from Resistance. I’d love for them to do a reboot on the series, with this one still the third outing but from a 10 years later sort of stance.

The second one didn’t excite me at all really. The story was non existent aside from Hale’s transformation and the game was just dull. Pleaseeeeeeee more of this, 50’s style atmosphere and alien occupation to create something unique.

I just know the game will probably end up being all about Hale again. More atmosphere like this trailer!

    • I know exactly what you mean. I loved R1 dearly, but R2 was a massive disappointment so I really was not bothered by R3’s approach. That trailer, however, was awesome, so now I’m quite interested.

  4. Loved R:FoM hated R2. Too many save game corruptions. Ugh. Just barely beat it, IDK, something wasn’t there for me in it. Hopefully R3 can pull off a better sequel and we get to blow more Titans up!

    • ditto, R:FOM was better than R2 although R2 had co-op and a decent half complete online mode, just wish it was as customisable as R:FOM.
R3 will be very decent, so long as Insomniac listens to the fans

  5. i like the idea of playing a member of a resistance group, not a soldier, let the game truly live up to it’s name.
see what life is like for civilians caught up in this war,
and after seeing that video, i’d love to see a resistance movie.

    • Yes, basically what I was trying to say. From a civilian group, an actual Resistance guerilla type group, not a soldier!

Trailer is everything the first game should’ve been.

    • Very true, rag tag band of survivors ftw!

      • Totally agree, Josh.

Real down and dirty fights. Sod the military. They failed. It’s now every man (and woman) for themselves! Love it.

      • thats what i thought, in R1 and R2 there wasnt really a resistance, i would like to put it to the people side and look at it from their perspective, and make it moree of the era not like really modern llike R2

  6. Give us a single player, co-op campaign and bang the series finishes on a high

  7. Ooooooooh, shiny !
A sign that there may be some civilian involvement this time around ?

  8. I think I must be the only one that wants to see a concluded story. A sequel. Surely Hale is more than just an alien host and, like Neo in the Matrix, is the only one able to bring down the Chimera

    • I also hope we’ll be seeing Hale again as more than just an enemy. Though it would be a perfect ending of the trilogy if he has to die at the hands of the Resistance at the end of the game.
Also this trailer would be perfect with The Host of Seraphim on the background.

  9. Co-Op…?

  10. Starts in NYC, ends on the Chimara’s planet after stepping through a portal….hmmmmm sounds like Half Life, so long as we don’t get a crab alien with a swinging hanging ball sack lol!
