Microsoft Responds To Mass Effect 2 Heading To PS3

Not everyone was overjoyed with the news that sci-fi epic RPG Mass Effect 2 will be docking with the PS3 this January. After all, the game is synonymous with the Xbox 360 platform and one of the best reasons to own the console. Responding to the game spreading its console wings, Microsoft are still bullish that if you want the “full Mass Effect experience”, the Xbox 360 is still the place to be. A Microsoft representative spoke to IGN, stating:

“With both Mass Effect titles launching first on Xbox 360 combined with the wealth of available paid downloadable content on Xbox Live today, Xbox 360 remains the best place to experience the Mass Effect franchise.”

And just to put this one to bed. Yes, Mass Effect 1 appeared on the PC and was ported by EA. But, no, there is no possibility this game will also jump space-ship to the PS3. Microsoft put up the coin for the first game and they own the publishing rights. They just don’t own the IP – hence why this January is looking awesome for PS3 owners. The spokesperson has confirmed the status of the first game’s future by stating:

“The original Mass Effect is absolutely an Xbox 360 exclusive, making Xbox 360 the only place to get the full Mass Effect experience.”

That’s that. Right?

  1. Microsoft is probably pissed.

  2. hang on ms are b*tching a bout a 3rd party game? so let me get this straight it’s okay xbox to get a former ps3 exclusive but if the same happen for example ME for ps3 it is wrong according to ms. surely sony were p*ssed off every time ms did something but you didn’t hear any complaining form them did you? so ms GROW UP and enjoy trying to sell kinect.

    • No, they’re making the point they practically own ME1
Just like Sony comments about owning Ratchet & Resistance when Insomniac decided to go multi-platform.

  3. Online retailers: ‘Preorder Mass Effect 2 on PS3 today and receive a free online download code for Mass Effect 1 on PC now!’

  4. What an intensely bitter reaction. Microsoft seem more worried by this than I would have guessed. To the point of outright bullshit even, as the PC versions of both Mass Effect games leave the 360 in the dust.

  5. Lol at the people who always moan the controller is too fiddly or small and can’t use it then that also indicates they never had a PS1 or PS2 as it’s the exact.
No point in bringing ME2 if we don’t get ME, I already felt left out on MGS4 as I hadn’t played the first 3 MGS.
