The PSP is home to some great games, with one being ‘Grand Theft Auto: Vice City Stories. This PSP only game is packed with content, providing hours of entertainment for a measly £13.99.
So imagine our surprise this morning when we logged on to the PSN to find a rogue game sitting directly beneath Vice City Stories – the original PS2 game ‘Grand Theft Auto: Vice City’. Â We’ve tried downloading it on a PSP 3000 to no avail; however it will happily work on a PSPgo.
It’s obvious this game listing isn’t meant to be active, as the thumbnail JPEG is broken and the file name looks a bit off, not to mention it’s free! Plus when the game boots it boots as ‘stories’.
Is the PSN having an off day? Â Or is this an early glimpse of something else in the works?

Doesn’t work on PS3, shame, I’ve never had the chance to play this.

This isn’t the PS2 version of Vice City but instead appears to be a accidental free version of Vice City Stories. So grab it while you can if you don’t already have it.

Vice City Stories isn’t PSP only, it’s on PS2 asewll.

Deathbrin

FF10 and FF12 for PS3? Hell yeah

I’d love a PS2 service but it damage Sony’s business model for HD classics
Problem is Sony find it notoriously hard to get 3rd parties on board (probably even harder now that the PS3 is about as secure as an open door) and the games I’d want are SSX series, NHL2002 and the variety of Rockstar games. (already got GoW Collection)

Will you stop with the all the hacking references, it’s getting old. It’s no reason to put off developers and the 360 has been hacked too. So it’s level playing ground.
Voganlight
You need changes to the hardware on the 360, whereas on the ps3, you boot it up using a USB stick. That’s why it’s such a problem.
jayjay119
That’s not the point. By whatever means both consoles have been violated and can be used for piracy. Neither is problem free as far as piracy goes. A lot of people I know have had their 360s modified despite it being a bigger job. This being usable via USB is actually a plus, Sony can and will remedy it via firmware. MS can do nothing about people breaking open their 360s and modifying hardware. It’s certainly not something that is going to ward off all these 3rd party developers the Sony apparently has problems getting to work on their console!
Voganlight
They can’t do anything about it actually. Since these hackers can run any firmware they want.

That’s what people said last time, and they fixed it. This is the second time this usb has made the rounds, and I’m sure it will appear again in the future.

The good 3rd party devs anyway. this must be a dream come true for the awful devs that want to milk out that last penny from has been games and series.
You just have to look at the Tomb Raider and Mortal Kombat collection to see that.
thank god theres a independent game store that has a few more in stock. better get saving. not filling Sony’s and these dev’s pockets for games I already have.

I meant a few 60GB PS3s in stock.

Sorry for any confusion guys, I did mention that when it booted up it was the “stories” game rather than the PS2 game. I was just more interested in why this additional game was listed at all(when clearly it shouldnt have been).

I think that it’s a trial for either 2 things:
1) Shorter files – making the game size smaller, and have it load up differently to make up for it. It’s probably so you can fit more on a memory stick. On my VCS, all the textures took forever to load compared to the 1.6gb download version. But everything was still there, and it’s half the size so now i can fit another game on my memory stick.
2) Trial for PSP2/PS3 emulation – It could be a package that is being tested on PSP2/PS3 for emulation of the PSP. The long loading of textures as explained earlier could be shortened on a more powerful console, and the smaller file means that there’s more room for PSP2 (or PS3) download titles, which will be larger. Im leaning more to PSP2 emulation personally
That’s what i think of this anyway
