Disney Closes Propaganda Games

Today Disney Interactive announced the closure of one of its game studios, Propaganda Games, which worked on 2008’s Turok reboot as well as the recent Tron movie tie-in. A representative told Joystiq:

Disney Interactive Studios confirms the closure of its Vancouver-based internal game development studio, Propaganda Games. The studio has completed all work associated with its most recent project.

Things were beginning to look dire for the developer when its upcoming Pirates of the Caribbean RPG, Armada of the Damned, was canned in October and the team was cut in numbers. It’s likely the remainder were kept afloat in order to polish Tron: Evolution and its multiplayer DLC. It’s yet to be confirmed whether the game will receive any more content updates.

  1. omg no end quotes! again! id like at least an explanation……..

  2. A shame. It’s never good when people lose their jobs.

  3. Aww, founded by the creators of NBA street. Plus, as a studio, they can’t have been too bad, it’s a very difficult prospect to make a Pirates of the Caribbean game look cool:

    • Armade of the Damned was looking very good according to the gaming press who got to see it last year. Hopefully the team will be reintegrated into Disney’s other game studios somehow.

  4. I find it somewhat ironic that they have a section on their website called “CHECK OUT OUR JOBS!”

  5. A genuine shame. I was one of (I imagine) few people who actually enjoyed Tron: Evolution.
Hope they all find work hastily.
