PSN Store Goes Down, Error Code 80710D23

Having problems getting onto the PSN Store just now? You’re not the only one – it’s been struggling under the weight of heavy traffic since late afternoon.  Round about the time that the Black Ops map packs appeared.

“This issue is directly related to high traffic,” PlayStation are telling us.  “We advise consumers to refrain from attempting to access the store until the issue is resolved. We will notify you when normal service has resumed. For now, accessing the store will only serve to prolong the issue.”

They also advise that you don’t contact Customer Support about this issue.  “They will be unable to provide any further information and you may be waiting a long time to speak to an agent.”

We don’t know whether some users are questioning multiple transaction costs, but there’s a bulletin about that too: “Once the Store issue is fixed,” say PlayStation, “we will investigate any multiple purchases of the same content made.”  Community team leader MusterBuster says that his suggestion is that you “wait until tomorrow morning and check your bank statements.”

It’s all a bit rough. Expect to not be able to verify your online pass for some games, and there might be some issues with PlayStation Home items and the Account Management screen.

The PlayStation community team are on the case with all official updates – check here for the latest or follow MusterBuster for more.

  3. Black ops people still giving money away :)

Saw this at around 5pm just after downloading sonic for ps+
managed to grab a couple of other ps+ goodies between errors.

Nice to know it’s not my broadband.

  4. Hahaha, sooo many people play that bad game.

  5. Took me a few tries earlier to get on the store, but eventually got the map pack. Seems fine now.

  6. FFS Sony must have seen this coming. At least it didn’t bring the whole of PSN down. also it is a ripoff. £12 for 4 maps that is BS. Map packs should be less then £5 instead of costing more then a game.
In fact i could get Uncharted 1 for that price.:P

  7. Damm you Black Ops, yet another slight inconvienience (sp?) you have caused for me!

    • Inconvenience. You’re welcome.

    • and yet another inconvenience caused by BLOPS by making you type inconvenience!

seriously, you’d think SONY would take some measures to prevent this after three previous map packs with similar problems

maybe they can “advise consumers to refrain from attempting to access the store” eacht time a CoD map pack is released…

  8. Help! I’ve finally managed to buy the Dlc bit it’s given me 6 versions to download? I take it I just click on the one that matches my disc code?

    • Sounds like a good idea. Just make sure you haven’t been CHARGED six times. Even then, Sony will refund you, so don’t fret.

  9. i was wondering why i kept getting errors last night, forgot about the map pack.

  10. Oh so thats why it took me over 10 minutes to sign in to my autolog.
