Two of the most hotly anticipated pieces of news are the NGP’s price point and release date. US investment company Lazard Capital Markets has published a report on the NGP after claiming to have attended a recent Sony PlayStation analyst day. This report says SCEA has “reconfirmed” a 2011 launch window in the US.
“A 2011 launch for NGP was reconfirmed, although we expect pricing will be unveiled around the E3 conference.
We remain somewhat concerned that an initially high price point could limit the market opportunity for NGP, since Sony continues to balance profitability goals with unit sales.”
I don’t know about you, but we can’t wait to hear the official announcement.

Considering it’s technology and production costs for both the unit and games, unlike the 3DS, I would be happy to pay up to £300 for it, and £40 per game. The NGP seems like a very serious, immersive device and I respect the fact that theres some investment in original IP’s for the device, something that Sony never seems afraid to do for it’s consoles.

As echoed by most people on here, the price is what really matters and then the release date worrying can start….I really hope that Sony get the price right on this little masterpiece of console goodness.

I feel like this is all I ever say on TSA but here I go anyway: Piracy is breaking the razor/ blade system. if they can’t guarantee against piracy, they’ll have to make a profit on the hardware itself. It’ll be $349 or above and we’ll have the Hotzes of the world to thank for it.

I wouldn’t pay any more than €300, and then also depending on battery life and i’m looking forward to seeing how ‘grown-up’ the cameras will be in the NGP.
