Two of the most hotly anticipated pieces of news are the NGP’s price point and release date. US investment company Lazard Capital Markets has published a report on the NGP after claiming to have attended a recent Sony PlayStation analyst day. This report says SCEA has “reconfirmed” a 2011 launch window in the US.
“A 2011 launch for NGP was reconfirmed, although we expect pricing will be unveiled around the E3 conference.
We remain somewhat concerned that an initially high price point could limit the market opportunity for NGP, since Sony continues to balance profitability goals with unit sales.”
I don’t know about you, but we can’t wait to hear the official announcement.

PSP 2. £169.99, do it Sony make it affordable and return to the glory days of Playstation, ye must
rainydays458
I’m more concerned about the price than the release date
KeRaSh
Same here. If the price surpasses a certain point I stop caring about the release date anyways. :P
Bodachi
Lets hope europe gets it at the same time and not like the PS3.
cam the man
After the turmoil in Japan I can’t see it being released in Europe at the same time.
KeRaSh
Remember the PSP launch? JP>NA>…>…>EU
Watchful
Or the PSPgo launch: EU & NA > JP
GTRsannin
I don’t know why they would make the release date earlier in US since PlayStation stuff has been selling better in EU
Watchful
The need to stimulate the US market may be exactly the reason to release in the US first.
MrSpeedyGonzales
I can see this being around the £300 maybe even £400 mark. Hopefully though they will price it similar to the 3DS.
Sympozium
it’ll have to be lower than that, if its around £300-400 it’ll end up being the same mistake Sony made with the PS3
Bilbo_bobbins
£300-£400 ? If its anywhere near that price I don’t think they will find many customers at all. Thats ridiculous.
SpikeyMikey23
I wont be getting it at that price. Ive set my limit at £250, hope it wont be more that that
jayjay119
So much for the rumour that EU was going to be put first this time. Of course knowing Sony, it was never bound to be true!
colmshan1990
It still could, you know…
They didn’t say it was only coming out in the US in 2011, did they?
And SCEA can only speak for SCEA, not the rest of Sony.
jayjay119
True, still I’m doubtful given the history
Sting_HP
Well if it goes like most of the console releases Japan will get it first then the US and then EU and PAL.
dammspi
If they price it similar with the 3DS, it will be totally ok for me. 3DS is at 269.99 EUROS in Greece. I am really willing to pay up to 350 EUROS on day one. Anything more than that will mean that people will consider it “expensive” and search for other similar devices. eg 3DS and Iphone
ArsenalMark
Good times, will have to see how competitive it can be price wise however with the amount of incredible features they’ve packed into it.
Origami Killer
im hoping for a price around the £250 mark at its max but i doubt that will happen with the amount of tech going into it.
also a release around the end of the year maybe december or early jan next year would be good for the EU
Death_In_Flamez
I’d buy it had 200 bucks. I’ll just put that out there.
kivi95
I hope the price will be like £250-£300 and the 3G version £300-£350.
