The Witcher 2 DLC Will Be Free

I must admit, The Witcher 2 is one of the few games that makes me wish I had a PC capable of running anything other than MS Word. This feeling of envy isn’t helped by the fact a colleague of mine at work will today be ripping open the packaging of the extremely tempting ‘super dooper awesome’ edition of the game (I might have made that name up).

The game’s developer, CD Projekt Red, has now gone on record stating that all upcoming DLC will be free:

“Let me announce that all our DLCs will be FREE. All of them. If anything will be for purchase, those will be expansion packs.”

The first bit of DLC, titled Troll Trouble, will be available from today.

  1. Doesn’t an expansion pack technically class as dlc though? That is, as long as you download it and don’t buy it on a disc. Still, jolly nice of them!

  2. That is nice of them. Always thought CD Projekt Red was a decent developer in the way the supported the first Witcher game. Would definitely like to have this but my PC has entered the Twilight years.

  3. Man I hope they bring this to console a few months before Skyrim. I read that CDPR are indeed making it for PS3 and XBOX. Though it was a google translated article of a German interview.

  4. Good to hear.. I bought this from and got the first game for about $5.. A bargain and a great game so far. Gonna be awhile before I get to the second one tho, the games are huge.

  5. How old is your PC Dan?It’s has windows 98 i bet.;P
I admit,it does look good. I doubt mah laptop will be able to run this.:( It is very kind of them to give us free DLC. All upcoming DLC will be free.:D I thought MS hated generous developers and try to limit it to one free DLC.I’m looking at you Portal 2.

  6. Makes a refreshing change.
