Today brings a close to TSA’s folding week, hopefully you enjoyed the past week of folding content, and we have a few new members as a result.
Competition
Previously we said that you have until today to get your WU’s in, however, seeing as the monthly stats will be published tomorrow, I thought I’d save myself 2 hours of stats collecting, and give you an extra few hours to get those WU’s done. So you have until about 12am, at which point the stats will be collected. I’ll then announce the winners of the £10 and £5 vouchers as well as the person who’s won those 100 TSA points.
Week Overview
So over the past week we’ve got to know Thor, sorry, four of our folders, beginning with fattyuk, we then met TSBonyman, then after our break we had new boy DeadlyChipmunk, and finally, and definitely not last we closed this weeks set of Meet the Folder with SilverCider. If you missed any of them, please go back and show your support.
Speaking of support, on Thursday we broke away from our Meet the Folders to read the kind words of encouragement from TSA’s staff, showing that those who fold for TSA aren’t forgotten about. Here are Peter’s words, but make sure you check out the kind words from other TSA staff.
Peter (Colossalblue)
Folding is one of those quiet little applications that doesn’t get a lot of attention in the mainstream but it’s doing some incredibly important work. TSA’s folding team show a rare determination and enthusiasm for the compassionate little application and I’m proud to have them attached to the site.
But for now…
I don’t know about you, but after getting to know four new members in 5 days, I think we need a break. So next time I do meet the folder, I’ll add in a twist to get you all involved as mush as possible, keep an eye out for that.
Anyway, don’t forget, results of this weeks competition will be announced along with tomorrows stats, so make sure you’re there, but for now, good bye, and happy folding.
TSBonyman
It’s been a good week, i’ve enjoyed participating and meeting the other team members (and before this week) and it was great to see all that publicity for TSA’s folding@home team, ntm the positive feedback from the community and staff. Nice job Jason.

Our folding team is really getting into shape! I remember when i started folding for TSA with only one PS3 I shot pretty quickly to the TOP 10. Now I’ll soon be but a memory with the recent increase of folders ;)

I’ve recently found out the f@h on ps3 can auto start when idle :-). Never knew that before so now I’m going to try climb the ladders into the top 100. Does anyone know if the ps3 can turn itself on and do some folding at night automatically, and if so how?

I think the only way to start F@H is manually and after x mins idle time.
eye8have9you3
No but what I often do is just quit games and not shut it off when I’m done playing, then leave it to auto-start and shut down after 1 WU so it doesn’t eat through too much electricity/overheat
Kennykazey
Not a bad idea, I think I have it set up to do that, will have to check later to be sure. These articles have encouraged me to multiply my efforts, good work Jas-n!
Jas-n
As the others are hinting, just tap the power button just before you go to bed or go out.

Enjoyed all the F@H stuff this week, hopefully got more folk into folding.
Do you know how many people joined the team during the week?

Upgrading my gfx card from the current 8800 gts to the gtx 560 should help me a bit :) I’m sure I’ve got my CPU client on my server setup wrong though.
SilverCider
That explains your healthy increase in points recently XD my gtx 460 is quivering in fright :P (mind it is overclocked to 800/1600 MHz)

I second TSBonymans comment, job well done. Although i’ve only been folding for tsa for 1wk, I think it’s to say folding, like gaming has become a part of my everyday life. Now I automatically fold here & there, as if i’d been doing it everday for years. In a world where famine, extreme poverty (no need as more than enough money & food to go around,) is rife, diease/illness, which will probably effect everybody, rich & poor in one way or another, this chance has been placed right on our doorstep, to make a difference & shouldn’t be passed up. I only wish i’d got more serious about folding before now. F**k knows where that came from lol, I guess i’ve just had had enough of sitting on the sidelines. Let’s face it, we’re never going to have world peace(damn shame,) but maybe we can have a world without disease & famine too. (although famine is a tough one as the greed of nations with ALOT of money, isn’t going away anytime soon unfortunately.) Ending on a high note, I wonder what the twist will be next wk ha ha. All will be revealed.

I think it’s *fair to say folding….
