The downloadable game market is becoming more and more difficult to define. For the purposes of this category, we decided that we would only consider games which are exclusively available via download. We included any downloadable game which was not for a handheld platform (those were included in the handheld category coming later).
We also decided that Minecraft, while exclusively available as a download, was more suited to the PC category. So for those of you hoping to see Mojang’s blocky blockbuster here, come back when we publish our PC Game of the Year results and you might see it on that chart.
As with all categories, we asked for nominations of games which we thought were deserving of consideration. Each member of staff was then asked to submit a top three and those results were counted up and the below chart compiled.
So, without further ado, we’re pleased to announce that TheSixthAxis’ Downloadable Game of the Year 2011 is the delectable RPG, Bastion.

I suspect Lan Dee will be happy that Bastion has won GOTY. :)I’m glad that From Dust is 3rd as it is an excellent PSN/XBLA/steam game. Unless i’ve misread the graph. You need to use different colours guys as it’s confusing!

Surprised but pleased to see “From Dust” near the top.
I really must spend more time with it – Populous convinced me to buy my first 16-bit machine. the humble Atari STe.

Great to see Stacking getting some love, and Clash of Heroes getting mentioned. SpaceChem was also a great downloadable game in my year.

Well deserved win. Bastion is constructed almost entirely of win after all, I guess this was pretty much a given.

if Minecraft was included i’d have expected to see it get a high position, maybe it’ll get placed in next year’s downloadable category with the XBLA version.
anyway, Bastion seems like a good choice to me.
gameplay wise it seems like a pretty standard, but still bloody good, rpg/twin stick shooter combo.
but the narrator adds so much to the atmosphere of the game the way he comments on your actions, sometimes even humorously the insignificant ones.
hopefully we’ll see the game on ps3 at some point in the future.

Limbo, PJS2 and Renegade Ops for me. I did like the concept and demo for Stacking , thought it was quite charming but not really for me.
freezebug2
Haven’t played any of those games in the list, although I might have one or two of them as freebies by way of PS+ which I usually download and play later. So 2011 was obviously not a great year for PSN titles on my PS3, mind you they stood no chance against all of the AAA/B titles that have been released over the year and taken most of my gaming time!
Arcadian1
Haven’t been any games of the PSN lately – i tend to buy mostly PS1 Classics and additional content. But their has not been anything decent so :(

It’s nice to see Might & Magic get some recognition, it’s a very good game :)

Easily Chime: Super Deluxe for me, which also wins my overall Game of the Year award :D
