Sony have issued a statement on the new PlayStation Store, which has seen a somewhat troubled launch over the last day or so, not least with payment issues and slow updates being reported by users who saw it before it was pulled.
“The phased launch of the new PlayStation Store has been temporarily postponed in some territories as teething issues related to the global roll-out of the Store are being addressed and resolved,” said the company on its official forum.
“It is really important to us that the best possible Store experience is delivered and we appreciate your patience as we resolve these matters.”
The new Store is already live in the following countries:Â Australia, New Zealand, Sweden, Norway, Denmark, Finland, Belgium, Netherlands, Austria, Switzerland, Germany, UAE, Kuwait , Qatar, India, Israel and South Africa.

It’s live in Germany, but there are still a lot of blank tiles on some pages. I hope that’s just another small teething issue and not the permanent state, as it was on the old PSN store.

you know what’s really annoying about this whole thing, not that it went wrong, because things like this can, but the total lack of communication, on the blog at least.
the community has to badger the staff on the blog for hours to get a response, and by then invariably a member of the community has already posted the information.
it’s a sad state of affairs when the best place for information on the blog is from the community’s comments, rather than the staff.

Apart from the grouping of content by related game I actually don’t like the store look and feel. It reminds of the current X360 dashboard with everything clashing and being in your face.
I think the pop up boxes look cheap, like someone fresh out of a Photoshop lesson on gradients designed them. Like wise with the sounds, the old ones were old but didn’t sound cheap like these.
In all it’s like someone said, “Hey, tablet interface style layouts are where it’s at right now, let’s whack one on the store even though it’s not a tablet!”
And yes, it was slow.

i hope you don’t mind me linking to a video from another site’s youtube account here, but it’s a pretty informative preview of the new store for those of us in countries it hasn’t graced with it’s presence yet.
