God of War: Ascension Live Action Trailer Shows Kratos In Pain

It's finally here, after two (count em) teasers.

Finally, after a week of teasing, Sony have released the full live action trailer for God Of War: Ascension. It’s a little different from what we’ve seen before and Kratos looks a little bit off, but it’s moody and sets the tone for the lead character’s anger and anguish nicely.

Ascension is set before the first God of War game, and tells a more human story with Kratos dealing with plenty of pain and suffering, the catalysts for which are evident in the trailer.

The video was put together by Imaginary Forces, who have also done some of the cut scenes in the game itself. The trailer features a special version of Ellie Goulding’s “Hanging On” and according to Santa Monica is “the biggest production we’ve ever undertaken for a God of War commercial or trailer, or for any PS3 game for that matter.”

    Pretty cool looking ash effect.
It’s a bit confusing when the live action trailer is all emotional and the gameplay trailer is violent and filled with scary monsters.

One of the best GoW trailers imo. This has me pretty pumped to play Ascension now.

The reveal of why Kratos was pale white in the first God of War is still one of my favorite moments in any game. It kind of sucks that none of the games but the first one have really tried to get into that aspect of Kratos’s character. The first game is almost the only one where Kratos is likable as a person. I’m interested to see where this goes.
