This started off as rumour this morning but it now looks like that Final Fantasy X-2 HD has been confirmed and it will be packaged with Final Fantasy X HD on the PS3.
The official reveal is supposed to come from Japanese magazine, Jump, and it appears scans of the magazine have confirmed its existence, at least according to Gematsu. I would confirm but my Japanese is a bit rusty.
For you Vita owners both games will be available as separate purchases. However, we’re still waiting upon a confirmed release date for the HD releases but I’d expect that to be available soon.

Now if they’d just hurry up and release the bloody game, everything would be lovely.

Some of us bought the Vita for it. Not that I’m having a bad time waiting, though. I fear I’ll end up buying both the ps3 and vita version. It already feel the temptation.

Those sick barstewards! No-one should have to suffer through 10-2 in HD, hell, people barely managed to get through it the first time around. Do they really want to remind people how rubbish 10-2 was?
Person678
Personally I found it perfectly enjoyable, as long as you don’t expect a epic tale like FFX and enjoy it for the cheesy fun that it is. Ace battle system too.
SpikeyMikey23
I’m with you there. I enjoyed 10-2 much more than 12 and 13
Roynaldo
Meh is about the only word that describes Final Fantasy X-2. Saying that I loaded it up a few months back and saw my save file was 82 hours long…. X-2, XIII and XIII-2 are the only ones i’ve only played once.
The Lone Steven
I’m going to risk enraging the resident FF nutjob and express my opinion of 10. Tis not that good. Well, judging by the footage i’ve seen and a reviewer by an internet reviewer. It seems that FF has gone downhill since 9 and yes, i’m aware i’m sounding like a fanboy when i say that. :-/ As for FF10-2. It tried to appeal to female gamers but failed and the plot is not that great and i think is filled with plot holes.
Roynaldo
The holes in your statement revolve around you not playing them and using others to judge. X is the biggest game by far. So so so much to do and despite it’s voice acting flaws has everything and more. I honestly can’t name my top FF game but i’m certain that X is in the top 3 or even 2.
From a ‘nutjob’ take that experience as you will, but at least it’s an experienced view.
Airiaen
FFX is a brilliant game. I love the music, characters and the landscape. If only I could play it more….
So despite the words of some snarky “reviewer” on the internet and “footage” maybe if you play it yourself you might view it differently to the reviewer or others.

@ Roy I’m sorry but FFX is not the biggest game. FFIX and FFVI are bigger.
@ Steven- I don’t FFX-2 was trying to appeal to female gamers. Adolescents maybe
Roynaldo
maybe it feels longer….and actually is. or maybe it is masked by the world map in previous games. FFX is huge in scale and more importantly scope and (meaningful) side quests. \
Could be wrong but I doubt it. FFIX was great in all aspects but its characters who consisted of a 2 (maybe 3) seriously annoying personas.
nemesisND1derboy
FF X is the best Final Fantasy. Simples.
KeRaSh
FFX-2 is right up there with XII and VIII on my list of least favorite FF games.
I really didn’t like the Costume battle system and it’s even worse that every character’s special dress was missable. At the end of the game I didn’t even have Payne’s special dress which really pissed me off…
I remember being hyped like there was no tomorrow about this game when the teaser with Tidus in a prison cell was released so I guess my expectations were a little skewed by the time the game actually came out.
Story wise I can’t even remember what went on and how it actually ended, which says a lot about the game.
FFX was a really good game but I don’t have such fond memories of it as some other fans seem to have. There was so much to do and it’s the first FF where I actually bothered to get everyone’s final weapon. Maybe it’s because I started out with FFVII, and loved IX so much. The jump to the PS2 was amazing but… hell… I don’t know. Something inside me seems to hold off any excitement when it comes to X. Maybe it’s a good thing we get to enjoy it again in HD (the screens so far look terrible…) but I feel they should have skipped X-2 and shoould have focused on something else instead. I’m guessing it’s a small team working on it and it’s probably not much extra work to give X-2 the HD treatment while they’re at it.
At least I will be able to play them on the Vita. Yes, THEM. I’ll probably play X-2 again… I’m that much of a fanboy… ;_;
SpikeyMikey23
Loved the introduction of voice acting. I was amazed when i first started playing it. I remember the day I bought it, twas a good day
Jim Hargreaves
Great stuff. Never actually go to play FFX but completed X-2. Loved the class system.
Peter Chapman
The Finalist of Fantasies.
The Lone Steven
Get out!
Roynaldo
Been waiting for this for soooo long and now they bundle them both!? Great. Will defo play them both again. X more than X-2 as it felt very girly but more than willing to throw on my pink fluffys to endure it once more.

Never liked FFX-2 as much as X but was still a pretty decent title. Never finished it though. This could be the time I do.
Bladesteel
I don’t get all the hate for X-2. X had the better story, X-2 had the better battle system. I would have loved to see it used in a standalone game instead of a sequel..

I think they perfected ATB with FFX-2.
Airiaen
I know the Vita versions likely going to go over 4GB but why do they need to be separate? Kinda lame.
nemesisND1derboy
Pretty much precisely that reason. I don’t think both games will fit on one card, and they aren’t going to bundle two cards together.
Maybe there’ll be some sort of deal or something, who knows.
Sitorimon
Love both. Can’t wait! One of the few HD collections I’ll happily yum up
easternjam
I’m actually playing through XIII as we speak and really enjoying it, it’s the only one I’ve actually put a decent amount of time into since X. So hearing this is good timing, I’m engorging myself in FF for the first time in years and can’t put XIII down, so once I’m finished with it I’ll be anticipating this release.
Never even got the chance to play X-2 due to the fact that at the time I wasn’t hugely keen on the female characters from X so never picked it up, maybe this will be a good excuse to finally give it a shot. Hopefully it won’t be too late in the year, and they better do a good job!
