It’s been another busy week for the gaming industry, this time mainly full of rumours about the new Xbox, complete with some controversial tweets and people losing their jobs. Anyway, let’s focus on what’s been going on at TSA Towers in this week’s Community Round-Up!
Earlier this week, we gave you the chance to win a copy of Guacamelee!, the Mexican-themed fighting game for both PS3 and Vita. All you had to do was come up with a name for your Mexican wrestler. The competition’s closed now, but head on over to the article to check out the 5 lucky winners, and have a skim through some of the rather inventive names people came up with!
Let’s start the Meets with the usual GT5 Meet at 7pm on Monday night, hosted by Manorhowze. A tad later at 8pm, R1MJAW hosts a Tomb Raider meet, and he’s also got another Tomb Raider meet at 8pm on Wednesday.
That’s all there is so far, I’m sure we’ll see Friday nights usual Bad Company 1 meet pop up during the week, and hopefully a few others will get thrown in too. And of course, you can create your own Meet provided you’ve got 250 TSA Points.
We’ve already mentioned Guacamelee! once, but here’s Peter’s impressive 9/10 review for the quirky brawler. He also did interviewed Chris McQuinn, a designer at DrinkBox. For the other review this week, Jim gave Dead or Alive 5 PLUS a solid 7/10 for the Vita port of the game.
From the Previews, you can all check out Al’s preview of Soul Sacrifice to judge whether it can plug the game from the missing Monster Hunter on Vita. Teflon’s been up to his usual busy self, first getting his hands on Far Cry 3: Blood Dragon, the retro-futuristic shooter in the middle of a flurry of leaks, and then taking a look at Cloudberry Kingdom, a Kickstarter game that was picked up by Ubisoft. It looks like an intriguing platformer, with procedurally generated levels that could be a cult hit this summer when it’s released. Lastly, the 2.5D side-scrolling action-adventure, Flashback is an updated version of the classic game, which sounds quite good if you can master the controls.
From the Community articles, Wonkey-Willy showed off his gaming rig in the Chronicle, while Agent 47 took a seat in WeView for Hitman Absolution. Towards the end of last year, there were a few Kart racing games released, with Sonic & All-Stars Racing Transformed being one of them. It was received better than its competitors, with 5 ‘Buy It’ votes.
From the blogs, Kris explains why he thinks Sony need another PS4 event before E3, while Peter brings back the Top Ten feature with the things that are stupid about videogames. I’m sure there’s a few more things you can add to the list!
Finishing up, episode 96 of the Podcast is ready to download, while Greg brings up the 100th What We Played, and also welcomes a couple of WWP newbies.
Let’s head on into the Forums, to see what we’ve been posting about over the past week, it’s good to see it’s been a bit busier than usual:
- As you can probably guess, Maggie’s death has caused a good discussion.
- Motella wonders what heathy activies people do when they’re not lounging around on the sofa.
- EA were once again voted the worst company in America, Airiaen asks whether they deserve it or not?
- Chris (cc_star) finds an article about 10 impossible – but beatable games, including one insane video of a Tetris player.
- And finally, Bunimomike tries to bullet point his love-hate relationship with the Internet.
And that wraps things up for this week, I’ll see you next time, bye!
– Gazza returned this week to deliver you this round up.Â

Just finished playing Ghost Recon: Frozen Shoulder :-P with Teflon and Ryan Martin. Lovely, daft fun as always. We’re about as whisper-quiet as The Three Stooges going through the missions but top stuff regardless.
Guacamelee – if there’s a demo around, let us know! Not convinced it’s the sort of game I’d like so really need to check it out first.
Minor aside: Dead Island Riptide (PC format) can be pre-ordered at TheHut for under £18 with the 10% off code they have.

It’s been a funny week with all the XBox talk, I’m not sure that the old phrase ‘any publicity is good publicity’ still applies. I’m one of those weirdos whose never touched an Xbox 360 and I only ever tired Halo on the first Xbox for about an hour. All my friends bought PlayStations, not deliberately ignoring the competition, that’s just the way we all swing! I’d like to have a go on one, just for a few days to get a flavour for it, although I’m fairly short tempered when it comes to advertising so from what I’ve heard the main menu might wind me up. Singstar, grrrr….
Oh and what’s this I hear on the forums about TSA Towers not being real? And no biscuits either?? I’m very disappointed, even more than I was when Santa didn’t show up that Christmas Eve and mum and dad told me he couldn’t come anymore because we didn’t have a chimney.
