See Jeff Minter’s TxK Running On PS Vita

A little late on this, but Jeff Minter has today posted an early video of his Tempest-esque TxK running on PlayStation Vita, something that – judging by recent Tweets – is making him rather happy.

Note that this is before he’s done “anything flashy at all” and so doesn’t really look like a Minter game in all its full acid-crazy glory. You can get an idea of the gameplay, though, and it looks great.

“We’re going to give you a perfect treat for your eyes, ears and thumbs with a modern extrapolation of one of the best shooters ever made on hardware that’s just perfectly suited for it,” said Minter, “and in a way that retains the purity of the original design.”

The game was announced earlier this month.

  1. Just don’t turn it into tempest 3000 on the nuon! That game hurt my eyes, but had a great soundtrack!

  2. Tempest 2000 on Jaguar was bloody amazing (and only Minter could program the Jaguar ‘Tom’ chipset, backwards, to get the visual effects he wanted ) but after that, i was sorely letdown by Jeff’s work.

Defender 2000 felt like an Amiga P.D game and more recently Space Giraffe on 360 left me stone cold, so i’ll be watching this with interest.

  3. Anything from Jeff ‘Llamatron’ Minter should be worth a look.
