Microsoft Won’t Change Anything About The Xbox One In Reaction To PS4

Speaking in a recent interview at E3 last week [via], Xbox mouthpiece Major Nelson has said that Microsoft won’t be changing anything about the Xbox One in reaction to the sort of things Sony are doing with the PlayStation 4.

“I don’t think, I mean we’re really not going to change anything we’ve done with Xbox One” said Major Nelson, real name Larry Hryb. “We’re very happy, did you see the games on stage during our briefing? Did you see the exclusives?”

“I mean we’re really really proud of the system and the games that are coming out. When you look at games like TitanFall – have you gone through Titanfall yet? Enough said. Conversation over.”

TitanFall is console exclusive to Xbox consoles, at least for now.

“We’re really happy with what we showed on stage as well as what we’re showing here in the booth so I think it is uh, it’s safe to say that we’re confident where we’re going.”

“We’re also confident that gamers are going to love our vision of the future and what we’re going to offer for gaming,” Hryb added. Microsoft have been widely criticised by gamers and writers alike after their restrictive DRM policies – the console must be connected to the web once a day and game sales and rentals are massively cut back.

Sony have said that their DRM with the PS4 will remain as it is with PS3.

  1. Even if it was all about TitanFall, who the f**k is going to shell out a total of £484 for a game…..

  2. I’ll be honest, Titanfall did look very nice. Would I buy it? Yes, I probably would.

But I am an informed gamer if you will, I watched E3 and all it had to offer, I have watched Video’s and read articles from the front line. I have read the small print and have witnessed the fall of Microsoft.
Sony made some mistakes this gen, and I was really looking forward to E3.
I was basing my next gen purchase on it. Sony? Microsoft? Or Gaming rig?

The rig would be nice; I am a whore for pretty games. But I love the convenience of a console.
Microsoft opened E3 and lost me almost straight away. All the negative rumours were true. And no amount of pretty games will make me sign away my right of ownership, nor my right to the sales of goods act.

I was dead set on Sony after that, and their showing only made me want it more and more.
The next gen is close; I can almost taste my PS4.

  3. BEST game i saw from the MS Show(no i didn’t watch it, i just saw a few videos after their show) was – MGS5!!! :P :P :P & thank GOD that is coming to the PS4(&3?) ;)
+ I would of rather seen MGS5 at SONY’s show than Bungie game :-/

+ I am really, really, really glad MS are not going to change anything(BEST NEWS ALL WEEK!!!) LoL:D Keep going down that road MS(hopefully you will meet the Grim Reaper) :D

  4. Even the demo’s were running on PC’s, PC’s without Windows 8.
Just goes to show how much faith MS have in their own products.

  5. What were those exclusives running on at E3?
Was Titanfall running on an xbox one devkit or one of the many purported Windows 7 pcs with Nvidia gfx cards which were being used… it’ll be interesting to see how the final product compares … and just how ready Microsoft will be come November.

    • They were PC’s with NVidia graphics cards running an unknown version of windows, probably windows 7.

  6. Hilarious, mostly.

But my only irritation is that millions of people will not be paying attention to the details, not doing homework on the Xbox One and go buy one regardless.

  7. Microsoft must be going into politics and Sony must be laughing. I don’t check any other websites for games news, is it really the case that the XBox One is so universally criticised or is there somewhere where people are loving it? I can’t believe it’s possible for Microsoft to say they’re changing nothing and still expect their machine to sell well, it’s just blind arrogance.

  8. What a silly man! I wonder if he actually believes the things he has to say.

  9. When a 3rd party developer comes out with an exclusive without needing a multi million dollar Microfail kickback then start bragging.
It’s just as bad with the “ooo more COD DLC early cos we’ve paid out the arse for that extra 4 weeks”. Yeah that’s what makes me decide in a console. Muppets.

  10. Just like the N64, and the PS3 – Microsoft is having it’s own ‘difficult third console’

    • That’s a very good point, it’ll be interesting to see how it pans out. I have a funny feeling that by this time next year the X1 will be receiving plenty of praise but how it gets to that point now will make for some gripping reading.
