Metal Gear Solid V Opening Scene Released

Kojima Productions have shared the ten minute long (short, right?) opening scene of Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain. Or rather the first ten minutes of Ground Zeroes, which acts as a prologue to the full game.

It’ll obviously be rife with spoilers – I’m not watching it since the game doesn’t release for at least another six months and seeing any story-related cutscenes this early could ruin the experience somewhat.

Skipping through the video, there’s some stuff we’ve seen before but some new content in there too. It looks great though, even by cutscene standards. It also shows Kiefer Sunderland’s name in the title credits – I wonder if that is a ruse after all?

Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain releases on PS3, Xbox 360, PS4 and Xbox One at some point next year.

  1. If Keifer’s name is in the titles, and we know he’s voicing Snake, and you can hear his voice in the opening scene, where’s the ruse?

    ;)

  2. This here is a broken song that’s been played over bad over but kief Sutherland voice is not right at all, it just doesn’t go with snake, maybe this is only cause we grew up with David hayter voice but he is snake, his voice suited perfectly.

Maybe after I play the game will warm up to him

  3. Sunderland? Sutherland? I suppose this is Blair’s own (Paolo Di Canio upsetting) ruse to confuse us?

    • I call him Keith O’Sullivan.

  4. There’s no new content here, it’s literally the exact same trailer as they released ages ago except with the English voices instead of Japanese. I really don’t like Ghostface’s English voice either, doesn’t seem to fit his menacing look.

I’ve been hugely looking forward to MGS V but as everything they showed at TGS was stuff we had either seen before or very similar, I’ve actually lost quite a bit of interest :(.

    • I know what you mean, nows the time to hear a release date or some new plot teaser, anything else is a bit disappointing. I think I will watch this later in glorious HD, I’m still excited and I’m hoping a super special, hyper exciting, mega colourful, screaming girl, giant god-monster MGS PS4 bundle of some sort will be announced, that’s when I’d like to take my leap into next gen land.
