Best laid plans and all that… well, after returning from my travels I ran out of weekend before I could continue playing the awesome Beyond: Two Souls so my only gaming (and I use that term loosely) has been my weekly wander and drive around my Star Citizen hanger. So many ships and nowhere to fly them!
Blair’s been playing Tearaway for a preview, the embargo for which lifted earlier today. Aside from that and the “excellent” first episode of The Wolf Among Us he’s been reduced to watching his flatmate play through The Last Of Us “and realised it isn’t great until the second half” at least once you’re past the opening section anyway.
Resident news hound Tuffcub has played a whole bunch of games this week. His PlayStation Vita has been exercised with the “odd” Touch My Katamari, the “fun” When Vikings Attack, the “really quite enjoyable” Assassin’s Creed Liberation and a bit of Killzone Mercenary multiplayer. Of course that’s not enough Killzone for our TC so its big brother had a run out on his PS3 too.
Elsewhen (that should totally be a word) on his PS3 he’s still trying to “get over how bad” Saints Row IV is. “It looks awful. I mean seriously shite, like a 360p movie on YouTube. Loved SR3, [but] this is silly, there is no point for vehicles when you can run faster than them, the aiming is stodgy and did I mention just how shit it looks?”
That’s actually led to him giving GTA V a spin and “damn it I may – just may – be starting to like it. Skipping the cut scenes avoids most of the melonfarmin’ swearing”. Dangerous times indeed. Then he was struck by a desire to download Metal Gear Revengeance but was short of HDD space so a cull of games was required. What followed was a quick play and vote on a bunch of older titles…
- LittleBigPlanet Karting – Shit, deleted.
- Joe Danger the Movie – Loading times beyond belief, deleted.
- Hitman Absolution – Sort of fun, but a bit grim, survived the cull so far.
- Lara Croft And the MacGuffin of Something or Other – Really, really enjoying this. What a fab game.
Only just back from holidaying in places where The Internet doesn’t exist Aran is playing that all-too-familiar, frustrating single-player game called Inbox Emptying. If you see him about the place you could always enquire as to how his fight against both colleagues and The Evil Spamlords is going.
Kris has been playing The Wolf Among Us, the first of Telltale’s episodic Fables games. “Two hours feels like a pretty good length for an episodic title and both the season pass and the individual pricing work well. The only thing the mildly annoys me is that everyone seems to assume that ‘comic book style’ means cel shaded, although I suppose other art styles would be harder to pull off with a 3D environment.”

Started playing Okami. About 11 hours in and I like it fine, the visuals are quite pretty and I was suprrised that the game doesn’t take itself very seriously a not something I expected from the looks of it. Gameplay is alright, nothing too exciting yet but it might be too early to tell.
Also played halfway through Limbo, then got stuck. I’m trying to cut loose some of my backlog before buying any new games. I’m looking at you LEGO Marvel Super Heroes. Played the LEGO Marvel demo on PS3 and can’t believe how amazing it looks, the graphics are what I would expect from the PS4 version. I really hope this one gets the 10$ upgrade because I’ll probably get it for my birthday (yes I do that) on the PS3.
Also picked up LEGO LOTR on the vita from where I left it but the controls and camera still suck and I don’t think I want to fill my LEGO gauge with that.
