Community Round-Up: 26/10/13

Just a little over a month separates us and the PS4’s launch here in the UK, and just under a month until the Xbox One’s release too.  And with Assassins Creed Black Flag and Battlefield 4 being released in the coming week, I’m really regretting being a broke student and so not being able to afford any of it!

Anyway, instead of looking to the future, let’s look over the past 7 days in this week’s Community Round-Up.

CRU BANNER - comps tearaway

Earlier on this week, we announced our winners for our Lone Survivor competition. A Inferior Race was the overall winner, and he received a copy of the game, a signed Lone Survivor print, and a Sleepy Cat plush toy. Five other lucky winners received codes for the game, so well done to everyone!

There’s also just under a week until our Tearaway competition with PriceSpy.co.uk ends, as you need to get your entries in before 11:59pm on November 1st. You also need to get a move on if you want to enter PriceSpy’s Gadget Guru competition, which also ends at the same time.

CRU Banner - meets F1

Sadly, there were no submissions for the Meets community content, but I’ll leave the form at the bottom again for another week if anyone does wish to submit content, otherwise this brief test run will come to an end.

There also aren’t any Meets that have been set up as of yet, hopefully they’ll spring up during the week as usual. Or, as if I need to remind you of this, you can create your own Meet, providing you’ve got more than 250 TSA Points.

Let’s take a look at this weeks Previews, and begin with Blair, who first looked at the PS4 game, Octodad, and also Media Molecule’s highly anticipated Tearaway. Stefan had a quiet week by his standards, making appearances with the PC point-and-click game 1954: Alcatraz, followed by Surgeon Simulator for iPad as part of Mobile Watch.

Headed onto the Reviews, Greg Turner gave a 6/10 to the Vita game, Atomic Ninjas, while Stefan reviewed the Saints Row IV DLC, Enter the Dominatrix. Staying with the DLC theme, Jim looked at Abandoned Territories Map Pack for The Last of Us, after giving an 8/10 to Skylanders: SWAP Force.

Blair also dished out an 8/10 to The Wolf Among Us Episode 1 – Faith, while guest writer Lucy Ingram gave 9/10 to Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney – Dual Destinies.

Stefan had two interviews this week, both with Craig Sullivan, the first of which focused around Criterion and Ghost Games, and then more specifically about Need For Speed Rivals.

Moving onto the Community articles, the Chronicle said goodbye to Gaming Rigs and said hello to it’s new feature, Hot Topics. After the release of the Sony’s new advert, Peter wrote about Playstation Memories and how the brand changed him.

From WeView this week, Little Big Planet: Karting’s Verdict saw the game receive a mixed reaction, as Remember Me takes its place.

This week Aran looked at Max Payne 3 in a Matter of Perspective, while Jim looked at inFamous 2 in PlayBack and Gamoc looked at the offerings from the latest Humble Bundle in Indie Focus.

Finishing off in the usual way, there’s What We Played #128 from Greg. There was no Podcast this week sadly, but Newsdesk #18 from Josh was jam-packed as usual.

Time to head on into the Forums, as we near the end of this week’s Round-Up:

There we are for another week! I’m taking this weekend’s weather warnings very seriously, so will spend most of my time either in bed, watching F1, or finishing off Spec Ops: The Line which I’m currently loving.

Let me know your adverse weather plans below, and I’ll see you next week!
