Dev Diary Charts The Origins Of The Order: 1886

Last week, we saw some leaked gameplay footage and another official trailer for The Order: 1886. This week, the PS blog has gone live with a few more snippets of information and the above dev diary video.

There’s no new gameplay in there but there are one or two interesting bits about the game world and the mythology they used to build their universe. It all stems from the Arthurian legends of Wales and South West England, it seems. There’s a little bit of class warfare in there too, as you must contend not only with the Half-Breed threat but also with a rebellion of post-industrial revolutionaries resentful of the aristocracy.

London is a great setting for this time period, even though the developers have clearly stretched and bent the chronology with some technological inclusions that would have been theoretical at that time.

  1. Arthurian stuff. Lovely! No bias here at all.

Used to frequent the King Arthur pub in the Gower, just down the road from King Arthur’s Stone. Burial site on Cefn Bryn (pronounced Kevin Brin).

    Yep. No bias whatsoever. :-)
