Praise the lord, Sony have finally got round to creating an detailed status page for the PSN and services. It doesn’t resemble the Xbox status page at all, although Atari have been on the phone claiming it looks a lot like a page for their VCS console.

The old page only stated if the entire network was up or down, the new page is split by service so you can see if their are specific problems. It’s rather cleaner than the Xbox status page as that lists a status report for every single app on the network.
It may be worth bookmarking the page but, as ever, we shall continue to inform you if the PSN throws a wobble (and regale you with takes of happy pig.)

Yeah and if the PSN goes down the page stops working…I bet!

I bet you are the life and soul at parties.

Is this just for the US?

To check the status of SCEE … http://status.playstation.com/en-gb/
… ;-)

Ah, cheers, fella. I’ll bookmark this one.

If it worked! haha. :-)

Sorry it was a fairly poor attempt at a gag. I tried it myself and after it came up with “File not found” I figured that about sums up SCEE :D.

I second Mikes question, but also: Why couldn’t they fix the backgrounds before it went live? It looks wonky and annoys me.
It’s a very good feature to have though, much appreciated.

And I have written a web service that logs to Google docs spreadsheet that scrapes these and the Xbox live page this giving definitive proof that there is little difference between these services, and the real difference is the media reporting that skews perception.
A month from now the press (and anyone that believed their every word) is going to be looking a little foolish

If this is now web based – a future update to the PS4 system to show the same info somewhere on the homescreen (little icons or something) should be possible. Always good to have info on PSN status to hand before kicking the sh*t out of the HomeHub again.
Tuffcub
That is an excellent idea, maybe just a box on the “Live” screen you can press. Of course it will never happen, being a good idea and all.

or simply a happy pig tile on the home screen in case of psn wobbles!
life would be so much happier then!
