ZombiU Could Be Heading To Xbox One As Zombi

Ubisoft’s ZombiU was a game that was to show that Nintendo could work with 3rd party publishers to bring more mature titles to the then fledgling Wii U, a hint at a future where Mario could exist alongside shambling corpses. That future never came to pass with Ubisoft stating there would be no sequel because ZombiU was not profitable on Nintendo’s most recent home console. However, Ubisoft never said anything about not porting over ZombiU to other consoles.

That could be what’s happening if a rating on the Australian classifications board is to be believed, where a listing for something called Zombi by Ubisoft France has been registered for the Xbox One. However there is currently no listing on either the PEGI database or the US ESRB database. If ZombI is a real game then it should eventually turn up on those searches too. If Microsoft has struck a deal with Ubisoft to port ZombiU over it may be in early stages, otherwise E3 would have been a good time to announce it.

If we get word from either parties this story shall be updated.

  1. It’s still Zombi! :-) No “l” at the end.

Hope this comes to the PS4 as well.

    • As the original wasn’t profitable, it’s unlikely that Microsoft would shell out on an exclusivity deal for the port. I can’t see Ubisoft limiting their potential audience either. If this is real, my guess is that it’ll appear on PS4 too.

  2. Most other places reporting as X1 and PS4, maybe PC too.

  3. This was one of the few wiiU games I really wanted to play. Not enough to buy one but still. Glad its coming to XB1 and maybe PS4.

  4. Ouch, that has got to sting, Ninty. I do wonder if Microsoft will look into getting Ubisoft to use the Kinect or if it will just be the WiiU version minus the tablet controls. Also, another zombie game? Aren’t we already drowning in zombies? And no, i don’t mean the typical monday in Britian for most blokes.

  5. Isn’t half of this games “goodness” down to the gamepad features? It wouldn’t be as interesting with a regular controller.
