Hoping to avoid similar scenes to Assassin Creed Unity’s launch last year – and I’m sure the disastrous Batman: Arkham Knight’s PC launch also factored – Ubisoft have announced today that the PC version of Assassin’s Creed Syndicate has been pushed back from launch alongside the console versions on October 23rd to a new launch date on November 19th.
Speaking on the Ubisoft Blog, Sam Kovalev, Studio Production Manager at Ubisoft Kiev, said that the processes during development have been improved greatly for this year, but admitted that they still need more time. “The additional four weeks are for us to really bear down and finalize all of the polish and optimization,” he said, “to make sure the game and all of its systems are stable when it launches, so it runs smoothly for all players starting on day one.”
PC requirements have yet to be published, but another point to note is that, while resolution and frame rate won’t be locked, the recommended system specs will target a solid 1080p30. Naturally, with the vast array of potential configurations and extremely powerful GPUs that you can buy, there will be those hoping to push way beyond that.
Either way, it’s good to see Ubisoft aiming for quality over hitting a particular launch date and releasing something that’s not fit for consumption.
