WipEout Omega Collection Is Getting A Free PlayStation VR Update In 2018

Every time someone has suggested Wipeout in VR to me, I’ve shot them down saying that it’s a terrible idea. Sony disagree, as I’m sure many of you will be glad to hear, as WipEout Omega Collection is going to get a free PS VR update in early 2018, letting you play the entire game in virtual reality, both online and offline. There is, however, one very, very important difference, as you’ll see in the trailer.

That’s right, instead of having a chase camera or sticking the player on the front of the anti-grav racer to Superman your way around the tracks, you’re being put inside the cockpit of the racing craft. With full head tracking to look around you and 3D audio, that will do a heck of a lot to dispel my concerns about its suitability.

Oh, and there’s three new ships coming exclusively for PlayStation VR players to try out, according to the EU PS Blog, though hopefully they’ll reconsider that and let anyone and everyone race in the same craft.

  2. Wow! I now want VR, it had better be on sale at Christmas.

  3. Great news, I got Wipeout Omega free with my PS4Pro during the summer sale and picked up a PSVR in the Black Friday sale, so this has worked out nicely :)

Although, I can already see myself having to stop every other lap due to the nausea…
