All The News From Last Night’s Nintendo Direct

Want to catch up on last night’s Nintendo Direct, but don’t want to spend 38 minutes and 12 seconds doing so? Well, here’s a quick and easy round up of everything that went down!


  • Wii game Kirby’s Epic Yarn is being ported to 3DS as Kirby’s Extra Epic Yarn in 2019
  • Bowser Jr.’s Journey was announced as the added extra in Mario & Luigi: Bowser’s Inside Story, which is being ported to 3DS for a release on 25th January.
  • Luigi’s Mansion for 3DS has been boosted with a new 2-player co-op mode, with full game co-op if you both own the game and for a bit of help in boss battles if only one of you does. It’s out on 19th October.
  • Yo-Kai Watch Blasters is getting an update on 27th September which adds Moon Rabbit Crew and majorly expand the game.

Splatoon 2 version 4.0 is on the way with a rocking music video:

  • Mario Tennis Aces 2.0 is out on 19th September and will bring Birdo, Shy Guy, Koopa Paratroopa and Petey Piranha as playable characters, which can be unlocked through online play. There’s also a new 4 player co-op challenge with time-limited online challenges. The game will keep being updated until June next year.
  • Super Mario Bros. U Deluxe has been confirmed for Switch
  • Katamari Damacy Reroll has remastered the classic roll ’em up, and it’s out in Winter 2018.

Oh good, and there’s some NES themed Joy-Con:

  • Diablo 3 is out on Switch on 2nd November.
  • Super Mario Party got a new trailer:

  • Asmodee Digital are bringing tons of board games to Switch, including Carcassonne, The Lord of the Rings Living Card Game and Pandemic this year, while Catan Universe and Munchkin are coming in 2019.
  • NBA 2K Playgrounds 2 is out this autumn.
  • Warframe is out on 20th November.
  • LEGO DC Super-Villains is coming 19th October.
  • There’s a Nintendo Switch Super Smash Bros. Ultimate Edition console, launching on 16th November and including a digital download of the game for when it releases on 7th December.
  • And finally, Animal Crossing has been confirmed, and it’s out in 2019.

  1. I was hoping I could make you update this one too with news that Katamari Damacy Reroll wasn’t just coming for the Switch.

    Sadly there’s nothing to suggest a PS4 version yet :( Just Switch and PC. So if Nintendo have managed to get that as a console exclusive, they’ve just made my special list.
