What, another one? It always surprises me when there’s bank holiday after bank holiday, barely a fortnight apart, and yet here we are. The weather’s not quite as nice as it was for Easter, but I doubt that’s going to stop people from having barbecues up and down the country.
But before that, why not catch up on the week of gaming news and more that we’ve had?
In the News This Week
It was a funny old week of gaming news. Activision Blizzard has been rather busy announcing games, Square Enix was sued over a game they released, and Sony had some updates for PS5 owners.
- Modern Warfare 2 confirmed as the next Call of Duty
- A Warcraft mobile game will be revealed next week
- Activision Blizzard shareholders overwhelmingly approve Microsoft buyout
- Yuji Naka sued Square Enix over Balan Wonderworld’s release
- Sony is blocking subscription stacking as PS Plus relaunch approaches
- Sifu is geting a new, easier difficulty mode
- The Xbox & Bethesda Games Showcase will be on 12th June
- The PS5 VRR update rolled out this week
- Gran Turismo 7 updated with three new cars and the 24h Spa variant
Oh, and want to know what next month’s freebie games are? Well, have a kick about with these:
Games in Review & Features
It was quality over quantity for the game reviews, as we tackled the progeny of roguelike Rogue Legacy 2 and resurgent Nintendo Switch Sports.
- Rogue Legacy 2 – XSX|S, XBO, PC – 8/10
- Chernobylite – PS5, XSX|S, PS4, XBO, PC – 5/10
- Nintendo Switch Sports – NSW – In progress
Alongside those new releases, I dove into Dune: Spice Wars to check out its heady melange of real time strategy and 4X domination of the planet Arrakis. I then snuck into Karl Fairburne’s latest operation, going hands on with Sniper Elite 5.
Finally, What We Played featured Dune: Spice Wars, Overwatch 2 and Wolfenstein: Enemy Territory. Retro!

Your Achievements
Here’s what you in our community has been up to this week:
- TSBonyman’s adventures into Elden Ring have taken him through Castle Morne and Raya Lucaria, but there’s so much more of it to play…
- MrYd has also found Elden Ring to be a vast game, the gold licenses and circuit experiences in Gran Turismo 7 to be rather tricky, and the free Vampire: The Masquerade – Bloodhunt to be a “pretty decent” Battle Royale. He rather liked removing the shirt from his vampire…
Have a great weekend, and I’ll see you again soon!
