300,000 Hellblade Sales Will Be Enough To Make Back Ninja Theory’s Game Budget

In an age where millions are pumped into big games, and sales expectations also numbering in the same region for a project to make profit, it’s quite refreshing to hear that a well known studio can aim for a relatively small target to make ends meet. Ninja Theory  has stated that selling 300,000 copies of Hellblade will be enough to make back the title’s budget, with the project itself trying to show that huge budgets aren’t needed for high quality titles. Hellblade was announced for PS4 earlier this year at Gamescom.

“We’re taking our work on Hellblade as an opportunity to question the way the games industry has always done things. To see if there’s a better way, a more streamlined way. To create amazing quality on a smaller budget.”

Ninja Theory has created some good titles including Heavenly Sword, DmC: Devil May Cry, and Enslaved: Odyssey To The West, all which have had different rates of success. It’s a different era considering that when Enslaved reached 460,000 sales it was considered a failure, and dashed hopes for a sequel.
