Battlefield V has had a slightly rocky start to its life as a live service, particularly over the last fortnight as they made controversial changes to the game’s ‘Time to Kill’ and then reversed them after a major fan backlash. Presumably planned well in advance, but with a hint of “thanks for putting up with our BS”, they’ve added two new guns to the game for anyone that bothers to log in and play over the next two weeks.
Get online before 3rd January 2019 and you’ll get the Ribeyrolles 1918 assault rifle and M1897 shotgun for the Assault class and Support class respectively.

Of course, people that griped about the prevalence of WW1 era Battlefield 1 games in the WW2 era Battlefield V won’t be best pleased. Both guns featured in Battlefield 1, but DICE say the M1897 was used in both World Wars, and that the Ribeyerolles 1918 with its integrated bipod and best-in-class accuracy offers something unique for BFV.

Upgraded my Xbox One S to an X this week and got a copy of this bundled with it. As someone who hasn’t played a Battlefield game since Bad Company 2, I am having an awesome time with it. Ridiculously pretty game too!
