MGS: Rising Gameplay

In a surprise to no one, Kojima appeared on the Microsoft stage to talk about Metal Gear Solid: Rising, with footage showing Raiden and some rather nifty destructive swordplay.

Whether the swordplay means we’ll have motion support is not yet known, but be warned it is gory, very gory.

  1. is this for 360 and PS3 or a 360 exclusive?

    • BOTH

    • It’s multiplat. They just left off the PS3 logo at the end because it was at a MS conference.

    • It’s for both consoles mate!! But damn that gameplay is flat-out INSANE!! Did you see how he cut up that guy??? DID YOU SEE??? =O

      • MGS BULLET TIME FTW

      • Real gory…

      • Now image playing that with a Move and Subcontroller (or whatever that thing was named :D)
i think that will be awesome, especially with the precision given with the move :P
oh i’m excited about sony today :):):)

    • Its on PC aswell as 360 and PS3

  2. looks ace – love MGS – love em lots.

    • i love MGS, but this doesn’t seem very MGS… It looks to be far from tactical and sneaky. maybe this MGS is for all the people who didn’t like the old ones

      • This has always been something different to MGS – Kojima said words to the effect that its almost like a new series, hence its not MGS, its Metal Gear Rising and the ‘tactical espionage action’ has been replaced with ‘lightning bolt action’. MGS continues through Peace Walker. Presumably the reason why this remains to be a Metal Gear is that it has Raiden and at some point we’ll get some huge mechs =D

  3. They always make him speak in English.

  4. This is what ive been waiting for today. But I have to say from that very short bit of gameplay footage im dissapointed :(. The MGS as been steadily getting worse with its characters and boss battles since MGS1 in my opinion. Taking away more characters for half cyborg half biological machines is really dissapointing.

From 2:02 – 2:07 it looks like it is Move controlled to me. What else are you doing when it slows down that much and the direction he cuts seems to be selected somehow.

    • Maybe more in Konami or Sony’s keynotes

      • please be in Sony’s…like have Hideo, drop down in a box and say *somehow in snake’s accent* “OH by the way…” then a…giant…Solid snake appears…and end of the show! … :( if only my dreams came true

      • Hopefully. To not use Move for the sword would be missing out on a huge oppurtunity. Im hoping some bosses or story will be talked about or shown too.

    • I hope it does support the move. While looking at that part the move was the first thing I thought of.

    • Are you kidding? MGS 3 was the best out of all of them! But then I’ve always been a fan of games that feature really long ladders…

      • The bosses didnt have as deep a connection as the one’s in MGS1 (even though it was on PS1) for me. The storyline in MGS3 however was brilliant. At least the bosses werent boring like MGS4.

  5. I saw this earlier. In all seriousness, I think this could be my favourite game of all time. The slow motion slicing looks awesome, Raiden looks even more badass, and t its still looks like its MGS. MEGA AWESOMES. I want this so bad.

  6. It’s no longer the MGS we’re all used to, but you can actually see that is is a MGS..
Gameplay looks very awesome. Not sure about that ‘cut’ sentence though, lol. Sounds kinda cheap.
What will you cut? Or something like that. xD

    • Yeah, I prefered the “No place to hide” “No place for Hideo” thing in that MGS4 trailer using MGS3 characters. Or the “This is No FPS” “This is MGS”, in the MGS4 FPS Trailer.

  7. Cut, cut, cut what you will. It just doesn’t sound awesome to me. It looked awesome though

  8. ERm……. Ninja gear gaidin?????

  9. Looks great but not really mgs…

  10. Nice melons…I’m sold
