We picked up on news this morning that the Split/Second installation size for the PS3 version was a whopping 7GB. We’ve had a few reports in since claiming that the story was a mistake, with at least one source confirming it’s actually “a typo”.
And indeed it is, the actual install size is 3.7GB (confirmed via a screengrab of an actual PS3 with the game installed) which suggests whoever did the US box-art forgot to add 3. before the 7. We’ll check in the morning.
So, Split/Second – it still needs a hefty install on first boot, but it’s pretty much half what we thought it was this morning, and brings it in line with most other third party multiformat releases. Your pre-orders, then, are safe. As is your hard drive.
