No More Heavy Rain DLC?

During E3 we reported there would be a patch released for Heavy Rain to add Move compatibility. Unfortunately this appears to have come at a cost.

GameInformer spoke to Quantic Dream’s Guillame de Fondaumière at E3 where they were told the bad news. Apparently Sony are encouraging Quantic Dream to focus on the Move support leaving the DLC on indefinite hold.

Obviously Quantic Dream could start work on more DLC after the release of the Move patch but de Fondaumière suggested that they will focus on their next project instead. Personally I loved Heavy Rain so hearing that we may not see any more DLC is a big disappointment.

  1. That is a big big shame… *sigh*

  2. I’m totally gutted :(

  3. That’s a big disappointment, especially given how well Heavy Rain sold. I loved the main game and the Madison DLC was a great addition, I was looking forward to seeing the Chronicles for the other main characters too…

Move for Heavy Rain is all well and good, but I have completed the main game several times and have the Platinum, without the Chronicles DLC I won’t have any incentive to replay the game with Move support!

    • I totally agree.. The main game is great, and the Madison Chronicle certainly added some extra to the game. That episode is great, really exciting, and scary, and fitted so well to the game, without revealing anything from the main storyline.

  4. That’s a pity, i was looking forward to seeing more.
I guess Move will be mostly used for the actions but i would love something like the Endgadget demo where the Move becomes the camera so you can look around and examine stuff close up.

  5. I understand they want to develop Move and integrate it with games but Heavy Rain has already been released and is very successful in its own right without the move compatability. Cancelling the DLC feels a little like a middle finger to those of us who have played the game ‘as is’ and were looking forward to the DLC. Correct me if I’m wrong but didn’t they announce 4 episodes? It feels like they broke a promise or something.

    • I never seen any mention of how many episodes there would be but David Cage has always wanted Heavy Rain to be a Move game.
Originally Heavy Rain was meant to be a Move launch title and this was the way Cage wanted people to play the game.
After hearing how long till Move would be releasing they decided that it would be best just to release.
Quontanic Dreams have always wanted it to support Move and now with Sony pushing them as well i can see why dlc is been pushed a side.

  6. thats a shame i was looking forward to more HR. i guess its not a total definate no

  7. I was especially looking forward to the one where you get to play as the killer, what have they been doing since the release of the last one! A real shame.

    • Me too. That’s the one I wanted the most.

  8. I’m going to be the contrarian here and say to me this is great news, as I much rather prefer developers to spend their resources on new, full-sized games than in one-hour-long DLC gamelets that more often than not are seriously overpriced anyway.

So here’s to hoping they get this Move thing out of the way as soon as possible and start developing their next project.

  9. There are more interesting games out at the moment, but I would have been interested in more Heavy Rain DLC. Although other games have stopped me from trying the Taxidermist DLC.

  10. Well, it will give QD more time to focus on Horizon, so it’s not all bad.
