ModNation Racers is a great game, but for everyone that’s just a little bit bored gazing upon the wonderfully named Jimmy Mango on the game’s loading screens (look out for him) can rejoice now, there’s a patch coming next week that’s going to solve all your problems.
According to IGN, the first fix will be to the load times, which, according to Sony, will be reduced by up to 50%. But that’s not all, with United Front Games acknowledging that the “computerized bastards” (IGN’s words) were a little tough, and are introducing a casual difficulty level.
What else? How about the ability to invite friends into XP? Done. Removal of the completely pointless ‘online room’ that sits inbetween races? Done. Network fixes to reduce disconnections? Done. Tweaks to a few of the tougher challenges? Done.
Sounds like one hell of a patch, doesn’t it?
Thanks, ProjectJay.

Well I hopped into MNR yesterday after not playing it since launch, got disconnected 4 times, and on the fourth time – I couldn’t reconnect at all.. Wasn’t just me either, 5 others who I was talking to via a forum were all having the same issue, from different parts of the world.
The servers kinda suck, to be honest. Lets hope it’s fixed up, I was less than impressed with MNR overall, tbh. I dream of the result of MNR, had Media Molecule been at the reins.. wow.

Be careful and read the comment again “up to 50%”. This could mean anything between 1% and 50%, just like ubiquitous “..up to 8Mb broadband”.

I wonder if the challenges will count using the casual difficulty, I/most people did them on computerised b*******s difficulty so that should be interesting. In all this sounds like a fantastic patch though, only one thing they missed was the Hotlap times using glitches being fixed.

Aside from load times and those 3 ridiculous challenges which are actually 100% impossible for me to manage when the AI refuses to drive underneath the devastators, I’ve had no problems with MNR for a while now. Difficulty of the AI or otherwise.
A lot of server side changes have worked wonders and s**t miracles. I can hit XP Series and be in a game with 4 or more players (I had 8 today) a minute later and already off to our first loading screen. Perfect.

Just a shame the loading screen takes another minute :P
But really good patch. This will certainly shut most people up

I fixed the patch myself a couple of weeks ago by trading the game in – worked brilliantly! :D

My first news credit, I feel so loved… *sniff*
anyhoo, very glad to see pretty much all my gripes with the game getting addressed. maybe we can even have XP meets now. although I feel a massive facepalm is in order for spending 2 hours straight (I kid you not) trying to win those three impossible challenges. which I eventually did :)
