EU PlayStation Plus September Content Announced

OK, we’re picking up on a vibe that some people have been less than impressed with the first couple of months’ content associated with Sony’s PlayStation Plus program. Games we all have (or don’t want), Europe not getting as much content as our US brethren, hell, even peer pressure reared its ugly head in the comments section of this particular post.

Well, time to buckle down the hatches, as the Official EU blog has just updated what’s coming in September for us (un)lucky Plusites. Brace yourself, here comes the shit-storm (maybe – I’m actually quite happy as I have virtually none of this content. But, hey, that’s just me.)

PSN:

But that’s not all! Perhaps following the American route, expect some special treats mid-month. James Thorpe over on the blog states:

We’ve listened to your feedback on here so, rest assured, this is not all that will be available each month; look out for some more exclusive, surprise treats coming to Plus in August and September.

There. Better? No? Still unhappy? Ah well, they’ve got another nine months to make you happy. Has to happen sometime, right?

Update: Some people are questioning what the hell is going on with the Warhawk offers above. It looks like a typo has sneaked in and that 20% in the Exclusive Discounts section should match the 50% in the Trial area. This is still unconfirmed we should add though the blog’s James is looking into it. Finally, a Mafia II demo will be available to PlayStation Plus users 24 hours early on August 10th. It’s not much but hey – it’s better than a dead fish in your bed.

  2. I’ll take that. No doubt the US will get a whole lot more, but no point crying over it when nothing’s going to happen, eh? For the £40 I spent on it, I think what they’re offering is good enough.

    • I still havent subscribed, but if they thre in a service like continuous play used to deliver, I would get it straight away!

      • Agreed. Nothing that’s been released so far on PS+ has appealed to me, but I’d sign up in an instant if Continuous Play was included.

    • starting to look like a better selection, at least sam and max is a newish game, wasn’t inferno pool the game trial for august too?

      Still glad I haven’t paid for this yet – i have warhawk, abes, MGS1 (on disc *emulator please sony*), would like to see the fish tank theme but aint great value in my book

      • PSone discs work on all PS3’s don’t they?

      • They do, I’ve borrowed MGS1 from a friend on PS1 and it works.
        Looks too pixelated for me to play it though.

  3. im confused, with the full game trials it says there is 50% off warhawk on purchase, on exclusive discounts it says 20% off????

    Does that mean you get an extra 30% off buy downloading the trial and then purchadsing than you would if you just purchased it??

      • 50% if you do the trial, 20% if you dont – it’s an incentive to try the trial.

    • I’ll keep an eye on the EU post and see if there’s a reply. People are confused as well over there. I reckon there’ll be some sort of clarification.

    • It gets even more confusing when you realise that as of tomorrow the following is included in special offers for August’s PS+ service;

      “Warhawk Triple Combo Pack – 50%”

      Not doing themselves any favours here are they?

    • Comments on PS Blog site say they are checking that.

    • It’s 50% off the game after the Full Game Trial, and PS+ subscribers can get 20% off the Triple Combo pack DLC

      Bargain… and just in time to get to grips with it before Starhawk is officially announced.

    • Me too. I have to say, the content that is being offered up is not making me want to part with £50 either.
      I will keep on monitoring it though.

    • If a good game comes out on the store like for instance Joe Danger then i will buy it . The chances of it appearing on the ps+ service in the next 6 months is practically zilch . Therein lies my whole problem with the idea of joining , its all the crappy old games that simply aren’t shifting large copies that you lot are being offered .
      Minis are total garbage (and yea i have a psp) , Eye Pet Avatars , fish tank themes? its a load of my arse !
      I was sent a questionnaire from Sony ages back about my thoughts on a paid service (this was before we knew that the existing service would remain the same ) and i was dead against it because i thought it would degrade form the excellent normal service . This is the only positive thing about PS+ is that no one HAS to pay the money to get online with Sony (and thank the bejesus for that)
      Same with that Firstplay , i get all my info on here (and more) and if i want trailers occasionally i can look on gametrailers.com , these things are for the gullible and people surely with more money than sense . Sony should give trophies for being a member of Firstplay and PS+ then they would get all those crazy young trophy hunter fools paying £40 just to get a Diamond Platinum or whatever.
      Right im off to shout at the kids outside enjoying themselves .

  7. All the ‘free’ games are good and are worth ~£30 combined. What were people expecting? I didn’t buy PS+ because I’ve bought ~80 PSN games, so the chances of me getting my money’s worth was slim. If, however, you’re new to the PS3 then it looks like a good deal.

  9. im really glad i signed up to PS plus. i never usually buy anything off PSN so for the whole 3 months that i paid for, ive got things that i didnt already have and that i will actually play on/use. yay for me.

  10. Buy 2 x £20 PSN cards for PS+, find out your banned for 1 month. Miss out on LBP free. Then find out August and September updates are completely s***. Great… just great Sony. I’m still wondering why I brought the PSN cards.
