FIFA 11 Cover Star Revealed

EA have today revealed the footballing icon who will be featuring on the cover of FIFA 11. This year the honour goes to Real Madrid’s Ricardo Izecson dos Santos Leite, or you might know him as Kaka, the rather good Brazilian midfielder.

Kaka will be accompanied by football stars from other teams in other countries in territory specific packaging. Joining Kaka on the cover of the UK box will be non-other than Wayne Rooney, who is making his sixth consecutive appearance as the UK face of EA’s FIFA games.

If you can’t wait until the game lands on store shelves on October 1 throughout Europe or September 28 in North America, then you can check out the cover below.

  1. I will not buy it until criticism is unleashed on Fifa 11, Fifa 10 wasn’t the best so that must have been the Fifa even curse (with good major cup games for £39.99)

    • FIFA 10 was a tweaked 09

All the major work & improvements went into 09 which was a phenomenal improvement over 08… so perhaps their eye was on the World Cup release

  2. I would really like dodgy decisions introduced into FIFA. For example when you are off side, as long as it’s not by a mile, you have a 1 in 100 chance of the linesman not seeing it and playing on. Or there are dodgy penalty decisions given/not given. This would add frustration, enjoyment and more randomness to the game.

    • I’ve always said this, especially about offside decisions.

Obviously, the computerised linesman is never wrong, as demonstrated by his sparkly yellow and red line trick. I find myself sometimes watching a slow motion replay that even in slow motion it’s difficult to see daylight between defender and attacker.

I wonder to myself what human linesman would ever get that decision right? A degree of error would make things very interesting, that’s what sport is all about.

I don’t mean make it so there’s a huge mistake in every game but the occasional mishap would add to the unpredictable nature rather than the on-the-rails nature that sports games often fall into.

  3. Regardless of whether either player deserves to be on the cover or anyone likes or dislikes Rooney or Kaka, a massive percentage of people who purchase this game or have already pre-ordered probably couldn’t care less who is on the cover.

I admit that I do like a nice cover but if I want a game, I’m not going to let a bad cover sway my decision particularly on a sports game where you know what you’re getting (hopefully!).

  4. Yes it simply Fifa 09

  5. cc has really hit the nail on this one, it’s common sense with all games YOU are the one that gives the variation to the game, YOU decide the lineup and the formation, YOU decide how you want to play, its that simple.
