Music Unlimited Powered By Qriocity Heading To PS3

In line with what we reported earlier, Sony has announced that Music Unlimited Powered by Qriocity – a cloud-based digital music service – will be coming to PS3 later this year.

So far we know that it will give users access to millions of songs that are stored and synchronised through the cloud and can be accessed via PS3, as well as BRAVIA TVs, Blu-ray Disc players, Blu-ray Home Theatre systems and VAIO computers – all through one single account and without the need to manage digital files.

Further details will be announced soon.

  1. So wait…is it like Spotify or is it purely accessing music we upload via multiple devices? Pretty ambiguous…

  2. If its anything like Spotify, it will be great. Especially if it works well on all of those devices mentioned.

  3. The media hub they promised is coming to life! Good times indeed.

  4. Just waiting for the inevitable: “Music Unlimited will only be available in the UK at launch. We’ll remember the rest of you peons sometime in 2013 – if you’re lucky” revelation.

    • Well that would be boring since they announced it in Germany.

    • nothing cool is ever released to america UHHHHHH

  5. I wonder what would happen if a hardware manufacturer didn’t tie you into specific store, or a store didn’t tie you into a specific hardware manufacturer

Would consumers just end up with better services and competitive prices? or would the world implode?

    • Proprietry is Apple’s legacy, unfortunately they’ve proved that the lowest common denominator doesn’t really care about whether or not a system is open, just that its seductive enough to make them part with their cash.

If Sony make this work as a general Windows / OSX / Linux / Android / iOS (not sure if they’d be allowed) cross-over program then I’d be all over it like a rash.

      • Damn my inability to spell proprietary ¬_¬

      • agreed. Sounds great, lets hope it is.

      • Well they won’t thats what I was saying.

Sony haven’t, they’ve launched yet another system that has either store or manufacturer lock-in as mentioned in the article

  6. Free? Subscription?

    • Subscription I bet. Hopefully it will be competitive to match Spotify.

  7. Free siunds too good to be true but ive still started to quiver in excitement…..

  8. Is this the in-game music streaming service that was rumoured as a possible PS Plus feature I wonder?

    • I hope so……. I hope so

    • that would be sweet

  9. Maybe free to PS Plus users?
