Another issue of Famitsu, another reveal for KOEI’s upcoming Dynasty Warriors 7 (known in Japan as Shin Sangokumusou 6.) Wu general, Ding Feng, is finally joining the ranks of playable characters. He is recognised for his prominence in the later years of the Three Kingdoms era. Omega Force haven’t skimped on the character design here; Ding Feng stands out among the other Wu characters, and though his weapon has yet to be confirmed, the wet towel can safely be crossed off the list.

Sun Ce and Zhou Yu also return to Wu, the latter retaining his Bo staff from Dynasty Warriors 6, with Sun Ce’s weapon obscured from view. The walking tank, Cao Ren, and veteran marksman, Huang Zhong, are also on duty for the seventh instalment as well as the Nanman king, Meng Huo, and his wife, Zhu Rong, who were both absent in the previous game.
Chronicle Mode is one of the key new features which is to be implemented in Dynasty Warriors 7, allowing players to pick up missions and develop a character of their choice. According to KOEI Warriors, this mode may feature co-op, both splitscreen and online. Aside from Aeria’s Dynasty Warriors MMO, the series has never been playable over the internet, showing that KOEI really are going the extra mile in reinvigorating the franchise.
Expect to see Dynasty Warriors 7 launch on March 25th, 2011.

I just hope that there is a significant improvement in the series this time round. I have been playing Dynasty Warriors since the second one, back when the PS2 came out, but nothing has really changed in all these years. I do enjoy the story that the games are based on though.
And pfft to Zhou Yu with the Bo staff, he was much more fun with a blade.

Personally, I’m a big fan of the Bo Staff. However, I didn’t like how they swapped out Sun Ce’s tonfas for a generic spear.

Totally agree – love the staff and loved the tonfas. Making Sun Ce a generic spear character really ruined him

Rumoured? Uh, no – it’s been confirmed.
Also, the game will actually feature MOVE support. That alone has me interested.

Have you got a link to back that up mate? Beings Samurai Warriors 3 has motion controls, Move support may be introduced in DW7, but we need a legit source to prove that. Beings the only news is coming from Japan, a lot goes unnoticed, or slips through the net.

*Apologies, I meant the split-screen online not the Move support.
