Ico Shown Running On PS Vita

Shuhei Yoshida, President of Sony Worldwide Studios and a prolific tweeter, has just posted the picture above.

As you can see it shows PS2 title Ico, from the infamous Team Ico, on a Vita and considering the source I think we can assume that the game will be making an appearance on Sony’s latest portable at some point.

It would seem, in all likeliness, that the image is in fact showing off Ico working over the Vita’s Remote Play feature, with the game listed as one of those that Sony would be making available along with God of War, God of War II and Shadow of the Colossus.

As for when Ico or any of the other games will actually be available? No date has yet been announced for any of them sadly, but we’ll update if more information arrives.

  1. Killzone 3 at some point too.

  2. Awesome news!

  3. Yup, Remote Play only peeps! He has tweeted again https://twitter.com/yosp/status/242529590860451840

    • This could be better news though – hopefully it’ll open the flood gates and other developers will start enabling remote play, and it’s a way to encourage Vita sales.

I’m yet to start Ico HD but now I’ll save it for Remote Play since I can play it whilst the wife is watch studd like Crap-Factor, wohoo!

      • There’s not really anything financially in it for 3rd parties to enable Remote Play, it was something I always, always wanted so I could game whilst the TV was being used… According to people who hacked their PS3’s and ‘backed-up’ their games it was almost as simple as a checkbox in the game’s code to get Remote Play enabled on a PSP (obviously Sony would only enable it themselves if the game could be controlled and ran satisfactory & made sense) but there’s very few business reasons for a 3rd party to support it, it’s all far outweighed by potential lost sales on the second platform. shame as it’s a killer feature IMO

      • I would totally understand it if there was an actual port on the Vita available (like with Rayman Origins) but if they have no plans to release the game on the Vita then there is no reason for them to not enable it besides quality concerns, which would cost them a little extra to properly test it but I’m sure people would appreciate them going the extra mile. It’s all about money these days. What happened to satisfying customers to build a long term relationship with your customers?

      • @cc_star – I agree there isn’t much in it for 3rd parties, but some people might only play certain games on PS3, but they might buy other genres or PSN games if they thought they could play them on their Vita via remote play. Don’t get me wrong, it’s not going to generate another revenue stream for 3rd parties, but it can’t hurt if they gain a few sales, especially for older games where sales have diminished or where they have no plan to release an equivalent Vita title.

      • @kerash @youles
I get that… and 100% agree, but I’m not EA or whoever… who won’t even bring their enormous catalogue of amazing 16-bit games and PS2 Classics to a new generation, which surely they can only make money from & it not detract from sales of current games.
I just wish more people could see the benefits like Sony do & lets face it, they’d probably be quicker at than Sony too.

      • Indeed. Even just the Sony titles will be better than none (especially as I haven’t loaded up Ico HD or purchased GoW yet) – it still means I can play something on PS3 without needing to be sat infront of it, and it’s respective TV!

I personally would love some PSN titles like Renegade Ops, Dead Nation and Might & Magic to have remote play functionality – one can dream!

      • But if all it is to the developers is to check a box, and the Vita is surely more capable for remote play given the dual sticks and then with some middleware from Sony to allow re-assigning buttons (or touch pad – like they’ve done for psp/ps1 games).. ntm the fact that they’ll want to mimic anything the wii u can do… i can see remote play being given more priority now.

      • EA won’t even let their PSP games run on the Vita, you think they’d enable Remote Play?
        Haha.
        I wish.

    • still, if it means i can play on the toilet. ^_^

  4. Yoshida just tweeted “Sorry to tease you, I was play testing ICO HD Remote Play on PS Vita. We are almost ready with a patch. Beautiful on OLED. More info soon.”

  5. Sony really need to find a way to incentivise developers to include this as a feature in their games at launch. Remote play is a feature I would use a lot, this shows that if it can be done with killzone 3, it can be done with almost any game.

  6. I’ve been waiting for this since E3.

  7. Do it, Do it now, release the damn patch! It will allow me to play something instead of being brainwashed with another Fireman Sam or Micky Mouse Club House!!!

  8. This might actually make me want to play Ico again. I still haven’t finished it but I forgot what I was supposed to do so it might be hard getting back into it…

  9. I don’t think the Killzone 3 patch will come into existence sadly :(

Since they have showcased a new Killzone game just for Vita, I don’t think they would want to damage their sales by allowing remote play of a Killzone game which most people have.

  10. I’d rather bave a new title on Vita just to sell some units.
Also, ooh a new font on TSA’s main page!
