The gunplay was superb (if you used the Vigors properly, of course) and the visuals were frequently wonderful, but it’s the story that really makes the game. It’s incredible.
So, it’s with sadness that I learned tonight that the team’s Rod Fergusson is in the process of leaving Irrational Games.
Fergusson was instrumental in finishing off the game, and I think the whole experience benefited from his input greatly. I would have loved him to work on the next BioShock game, but hope the DLC has already seen his input.
“During my departure from Epic, I learned that Irrational was in need of a ‘closer’ to help finish BioShock Infinite,” he said this evening. “I’ve been striving for better storytelling in the games I’ve worked on and I saw this as a great opportunity to learn from Ken and his team on how to build a truly story-driven game.
“I am very proud of the work that I did and of the team and what they were able to accomplish on Infinite. Now with the game shipped successfully, I’ve done what I set out to do here and now I’m looking forward to the next chapter in my life and career.”
Rod was previously at Epic Games, where he worked on the Gears of War titles.
He can be found on Twitter.

“I’m looking forward to the next chapter in my life and career” makes it sound as if he’s going to open up his own studio or something, to me at least.

I enjoyed Bioshock Infinite very much, there were some great moments and some lovely touches.. that guitar moment and the organ music playing when you drag Elizabeth away from the dancing..
I’m not sure what role he played in the development but it’s going to look great on his resumé.
