Community Round-Up: 4/2/11

Last week was a busy one for us as several of our competitions came to a close but as one competition ends on TSA, another is just about to start. The winners of our GT5 picture quiz were announced earlier in the week but our support for Sony’s stunning racer is continuing as Teflon is organising mini-championship that will take place on Sunday evening. Starting at 6PM, this is being used as a test run for some of our bigger plans and is already fully booked but you can still put your name down as a reserve in case anyone drops out.

Last month we challenged you to get the highest score in Shatter’s bonus mode in our new monthly competition series, PlayStation Plus Challenge. This month PS+ subscribers were given the highly addictive mini I Must Run for free and Dexter has spotted a perfect opportunity for a competition (presumably while he was standing still, it’s difficult to see things while you’re running). All you have to do is run the greatest distance you can, take a picture of the scoreboard with your TSA ID included in the picture and send it into Dexter. The prize for the winner is a £5 Amazon voucher and 250 TSA points with a nice amount of points going to 2nd and 3rd place too. Being rewarded for playing a free game, how brilliant is that?

Those are the two events we currently have going on but there’s still plenty of other ways to get involved with the TSA community. One of those ways is TSA Meets. Kicking off this week’s meets is Assassins Creed Brotherhood at 7PM tonight for 8 players and Bioshock 2 at 9PM, both of which are almost full so get your name down quickly. On Saturday evening at 7PM it’s Nathan Drake’s turn some loving in an Uncharted 2 meet for 10 people and on Monday it’s another Red Dead Redemption get together at 8PM. That’s all the meets for this week but don’t be disappointed if one isn’t organised for a game you like, if you have over 250 TSA points you can set up your own. Just choose a game from the drop down list, specify the console, time and number of players and you’re done. Just make sure you stick a post in our forums to attract some interest though.

Ah the forums, the heart of our community. A place that is filled with interesting, thought provoking discussions and clever forum games. And Bunimomike. If you head over to the forums this week you’ll find that several TSA members have started up their own podcast so give it a listen and let the guys know what you think. Also in the forums is a discussion about the gaming marathons members have participated in, head over and share your own experiences. I’m quite shocked that people can play games for so long, a few games of Killzone these days and I’m about ready for my bed.

The highlight of the forums this week has to be the LittleBigPlanet Community Guide that aranalas has started. If you want to create a level in LittleBigPlanet but are not sure where to start, check out this thread for a helping hand. Likewise if you have something to add that you think might help other members, feel free to post your tips and advice. This has the potential to become a fantastic guide for any LBP player so please, spread the word about this and contribute if you feel you can.

Speaking of contributing, why not contribute to our Folding@home team? Jas-n has been coordinating TSA’s folding activities for months and would love to see more members downloading and using the application on their PC’s and PS3’s. This months stats were impressive and our 1 million points in 1 month target was finally reached but we can always do better with your support. So please, join our team and help us contribute to the project.

As you can see, there’s more to the TSA community than just online games. This week I want you to head over to our forums and try to get involved. They may seem intimidating at first but they are very enjoyable place with regulars who are friendly and welcoming to anyone that wants to get involved. So what are you waiting for? Go and participate!

  1. do you get any TSA points for joining in meets?
i was at the Red Dead one earlier this week, lost connection after an hr then the rest wouldn’t invite me back in
    :[

    • from what i know u dont get any points for anticipating in any meets but the meet itself costs 250 points to create…

      • It doesn’t cost you points, you just need 250 points to be allowed to set one.

      • ohh ok.. i thought that the meet costs 250 points…
thx for the heads up mate=)

    • No the TSA Meets are a convenient way for people to get together and play a game with people who they know aren’t nobs.

      • although new comers are always welcome!

    • No, they are just a way for you to get together with other members of the community & have some fun on a game you own/like.
Dunno why you weren’t invited back in though i’m afraid.

      • It’s a bit strange though, as the TSA Point page suggest that you get points for participating / hosting meets. Could be that I read it wrong though

      • You raise a good point actually, as it does indeed include participating in meets as a way of earning points on the ‘TSA Points’ page – One for one of the mods to amend/re-word maybe?

      • Yeah going to notify someone on the site about this, at first I thought it was me, and my “bad” english

  2. Also, go to General Chat in the forums and get involved with “Photoshop Tennis” here; http://www.thesixthaxis.com/forum/general-chat/tsa-photoshop-tennis-2011-interested/

And then play the Avatar game too; http://www.thesixthaxis.com/forum/general-chat/the-avatar-game/

    • It’s funny, because the Avatar game isn’t really a game is it? Maybe each month someone should be chosen to create a criptic avatar that symbolises a game, and people have to guess what game, winner getting xpoints or whatever. That way it’d actually be a game!

  3. Thanks for the mention :D

  4. nice. might join in on Uncharted this weekend.

  5. Wow didn’t realise we’ve 8 players for the Bioshock meet tonight, can’t wait to get out there and score me some Adam.

    • Yeah it’s quite crowded this night I think. Deathbrin hasn’t signed up but I’m sure he will be around thus that makes 9. Really glad there are so many people interested again

  6. Remeber to check out my What do you think of DLC thread.
I asked Colin to include the forums so do i get a reward for get the forums mentioned?:P

    • I asked Peter to include my guide in the round-up. So I was first, indirectly :P

  7. Question: How come we never see any MAG meets..?
Surely with the whole Clan-Deploy feature, it would be great.

    • We did that for quite a while actually. Actually, I think they’re planning on starting a new series of meets up right now.

      • Huzzar!
Well, if there’s a MAG meet anytime soon for Valor (or S.V.E.R) peepys, count me in!

  8. im giving the plus challenge a go but im not very good at i must run and im quite far off dexter’s score so some practice is needed

  9. Had a few go’s at the plus challenge and have been getting 4500’s around. I find it quite easy and will put on my psp to give myself maximum opportunity.

  10. I’d like to do a SSFIV and MvC3 TSA Meet sometime in the future. I wonder how many people would be interested… :D
