FIFA 12 To Feature Exclusive Man City Content

Electronic Arts appears to have chosen their favourite football/soccer team. Today EA Sports announced that exclusive Manchester City FC content will feature in this year’s FIFA game.

The biggest Manchester City only feature is the use of 360 degree head scan shots of the club’s squad. This will presumably make the recreation of the Manchester City team in FIFA 12 the most realistic of them all.

Special dedicated content will also be distributed from the club themselves as well as via EA Sports channels.

Nick Harford, EA Sports’ Football Business Lead, said on the collaboration:

“We are delighted to be entering into a dynamic new partnership with Manchester City. Through this agreement, EA Sports will invest in the creation of bespoke content and experiences that bring Manchester City fans across the globe closer to the team they love.”

While Manchester City fans should be delighted by the news, it will no doubt aggrieve other football/soccer fans, leaving them asking why their team has not been given the royal treatment either.

  1. How will this effect anything? I personally hate man city and how they bought the FA Cup (I am a stoke city fan who they beat in the final so thats only one side :P) and this just gives me another reason to hate them

  2. 360 degree scanned head shots?

Shame they don’t allow ‘options files’ like PES where practically every player from every club has their imagery scanned into the game which users can download and import for free, although it’s not 360 degrees it does mean the photo realism of players faces when using a good options file is unrivalled.

    • I remember in the PS2 days, I used to buy Fan created option files on a memory card for around a tenner on ebay. Magic. A small and insignificant point, but I much preferred scoring with R. Van Nistlerooy rather than R. Vin Mistleroom.

      • Assisted by Ryan Gregs? Or maybe Alan Smees? My favourite ballsed up name was always Roberto Larcos. Porn Darry was good too.

      • haha, them’s the days

  3. Why, why, why? This is as likely to put people off buying as it is create extra sales

  4. To the uneducated mentioning the Carroll fee:

FSG brokered the deal using Torres’ perceived value as a starting point. CHelsea (aka the Man City of 2005) were told that Liverpool wanted Carroll as a replacement for Torres and that they valued Torres as being worth £15m more than Carroll.

Liverpool approached Newcastle who slapped a crazy tag on Carroll. Liverpool go back to Chelsea persisting with the £15m differential, Chelsea true to form splash £50m. Liverpool got exactly what they wanted from the deal, if you research into how FSG operate you’d see they place a financial value and premium on a player’s potential and longevity and every deal is thought through before investment, not the kid in a candy shop approach of Chelsea and Man City’s bottomless pits of funds.

I hope the Financial Fair Play rules ruin both of them. Man City exclusive FIFA content? What? Like a 3D view of their trophy cabinet?

  5. This sounds cool. I’m from London an support united. Have never been to Manchester but I love the city and am super proud of the place because they won the league last year and I feel like I have some sort of connection to the place even though I’ve never been there. If city do this on FIFA then I might think about supporting them instead.

    • Please tell me this is a troll, you’ve epitomised exactly what is wrong with so many modern football fans if you’re not trolling.

    • You cant just jump teams or your not a real fan. especially if its cus there heads are better on fifa

    • obvious pisstake. ;)

    • This was an obvious joke. Its the only reason I could imagine ea and FIFA would do this. Ea get paid loads of money, city hope to take all the ‘cockney reds’ plus some from united. Whether it works or not will be interesting.

      • I imagine most people did understand it, it’s pretty good!

  6. CITY ‘TIL I DIE!!!!!

  7. Throwing money at a game who’s cover star is your main rivals key player FAIL. All that Arabian money has bought City is a FA cup win with a deflected shot off Carrick.

  8. clearly this needs a FIFA meet to solve all the arguments, City V Utd, 11 v 11 or 10 v 10
