Last week’s Tweak It prompted many more comments than we expected. Asking you how you would tweak the PS3’s GameOS to improve its existing capabilities you all had a lot of great ideas. Having read through all your suggestions here are my top three:
- “Notification display: change so you can have All, Only Messages or Off.” ~ sideshow
- “Automated trophy sync.” ~ Kennykazey, musicmonkey, Awayze, hazelam
- “Game independent screenshot feature.” ~ hazelam
This week we would like to know how you would change Sony’s PlayStation Network Store. From our gamer’s perspective the PSN Store is where we go to access the latest downloadable goodies whether they be trailers, DLC or games. As the key non-retail place where we go to spend our hard-earned pennies and cents the Store should be a welcoming place.
From Sony’s perspective they should be trying to make the Store as easy to use as possible, to make those impulse purchases easier and quicker. Not only that, it is their shop window where they should be doing all they can to encourage us to visit often and linger longer as we browse the virtual shelves.

There were hints back in March that Sony were working on a Store redesign, followed by rumours earlier this month that a new Store design is already being tested. Changes are likely coming then, but it may not be too late for Sony to listen to suggestions. Here are a couple to get you started:
- A page on the Store that lists only the DLC for the games that you already own. The Xbox’s Games Marketplace does this already, but it could be taken one step further and leave out of the list any DLC you already have and any games that you have all the DLC for.
- Dynamic themes on the Store often have a ‘Preview’ button which essentially shows you a ‘trailer’ for the theme. The pages for the games also should feature a preview/trailer button so there is no need to go hunting elsewhere on the Store for them.
Over to you, our readers. We know that you would like to see lower prices, so let’s take that as a given. What else could Sony do to the Store to encourage you to spend your money there and make it a nicer place to visit?

not sure if this has been said(havnt read alk comments) but custom xmb would be nice. just like my galacxy add shorcuts anywhere on tv screen that you use.. example ps store logo top right screen or where ever you want it would be nice to have your downloaded games icon anywhere also … have everything how you want it were you want it.

it wouldn’t make me spend more money, better content would do that like parasite eve hint hint, but they really need to do something about that bloody 5 to 10 seconds freeze on the store after you start every download.
in fact the whole ps3 os has this problem, there are are so many places where it just freezes for 5 to 10 seconds, exit account management and it freezes, exit a game, and it freezes, do almost anything, and it bloody freezes.
not a good advert for the power of the machine if doing basic things like that freeze the system.

There are a few things I’d like to see in the PS Store, some simple and some would probably more complicated than a slight change in the text of some code but here goes:
Change the notification when holding the PS button on the controller down from “quit game” to “quit store”.
Kind of a change to the PS+ service, but it is store related. The auto download feature should be able to download all new content available to the user when the ps store is updated.
Speed the sodding thing up, I have a pretty hefty home internet connection but my word does the PS store run seriously slowly at times. Things like browsing into the new releases container take ages some times and the user relinquishes control while the folders are updating.
Present trailers for all content, there is a whole lot of throwing caution to the wind involved in spending on the PSN.
Some kind of hookup to the downloads on an account would be nice, so that you could immediately see if you have downloaded certain content previously when you browse to it. The amount of times I accidentally download a demo twice because my goldfish like memory has erased all knowledge of downloading it the first time are numerous.

Bit late to the party on this one, might have already been suggested.
But I’d like to see older games ‘pre-patched’ Theres nothing more annoying that downloading a game, loading it to find you need to patch it. I can live with it on disc, but on DD? come on.. At lease piggy back the patch in with the title and auto install with the main install, I’d imagine they wouldn’t even need to change the origional package.
