It’s a fairly safe bet that this year’s Call of Duty is a sequel to Treyarch’s Black Ops. We’ve seen several leaks, one of which hinted at a reveal at the end of this month, with another listing leaked multiplayer details and a possible release date.
Now we’ve got a poster, supposedly snapped by a retailer and sent to Kotaku.
No sources are named, of course, but the poster has Activision and Treyarch logos on it, along with a moody looking dude with a shooter, the words “Return for Briefing” and a date – May 2nd. As that’s obviously not the release date, it’s safe to assume that it’s the date for something else important – like an announcement.

I picked up black ops the other day, I actually prefer it to MW games, the feel of the gun when shooting feels like killzone 2.

They are slighty more meaty/less tinny than W@W, but still reminiscent. Not a patch on MW2, nor is MW3s(miss acr sound especially.)

It was the other way for me, i hated BO’s, but as soon as MW3 was released i started to appreciate the work and support Treyarch put into their games.

I sold black ops so never had the opportunity to go back to it. I may think the same as you know if i had an opportunity to try but i’m not buying it again ;)

Sold my copy a mth or two after release, wish i hadn’t now. I’ve been getting the urge to play & have seen it new for £11, will prob pick up next time in town. MW is still my preferred route atm, but always into each studios’ lastest attempt, with an open mind… Would an £11 p.tag not tempt you?

To be honest, i have no feelings for COD but it will be interesting to see if the entire plot is leaked a few days before again. And Acti punishing a smaller site for a different matter. If i remeber correctly.
I hope that they won’t just copy and paste the same gameplay from BO as i think many COD fans are starting to get bored of the same stuff every game. Well, judging from the amount of TSAers that were fish fans but have now don’t want any more fish.

This seems like a viable announcement date. Get people hyped up in time to show a gameplay demo at Microsofts E3 presentation. Just like the last few years. I won’t be buying it this year once again, but it will be interesting to see what Treyarch can bring to the table.

The deal with Microsoft finished with MW3, so Acti may go it alone with the reveal.
Although I can see it being renewed, especially as Acti receive a small slice of XBLA subscription, seeing as their games are the main reason people have bought the subscription over the years.

I’ll be interested to see what the campaign is like, as I did enjoy the SP in Blops, just the multiplayer ran terribly. Hopefully the graphics will have been hugely improved when you consider MW3/MoH/BF3 are all better visually. Also, I’m probably more interested in Nazi Zombie mode more than anything.

Looking forward to this but then again I massively prefer BlOps over the cluster-feck that is MW1, 2 & 3. Treyarch’s campaigns are better and there was real thought about the balancing in the multiplayer, it didn’t all work out but their post release tweaking is in a different league to IW’s.

Really enjoyed Black Op’s campaign. Thought it was excellent! Loved World at War too! but the original MW beats them all for me!
