thatgamecompany To Reveal Future Plans Soon?

In an interesting Journey-focused interview, GameSnack have spoken to thatgamecompany’s Jenova Chen, who says that the studio is thinking of going multi-platform – which we already knew – and that they’re only at the very early concept stages for their next project.

“Currently we are still working on devising a new concept,” he says, “making it much too early to announce anything”.

However, he does go on to say that they might be ready to tell people soon what the studio might be planning. “I think this month we will be able to tell other people what we will do,” he added, albeit that’s via Google Translate.

Our friends over at VG247 have mentioned that they have an interview with the studio going live this afternoon (at 2pm) and that it has some big news in it so hopefully we’ll get a little more info then.

The interview with GameSnack is in Dutch, so please forgive any translation errors.

  2. Don’t go multi-platform!

    • I thought they were tied down to a three game deal with Sony? Or did I imagine that?

      • Journey was the last game of that deal. Fl0w, Flower and Journey.

      • Yes but it’s over now. flow, flower and journey.

      • beaten by 2 minutes.

      • Like a boss! :D

    • I’m just hoping they go multi-platform so that everyone can appreciate their brilliance.

      • That’s what I was thinking. Just like I would love to play Trials Evolution on my PS3…

      • Amen to that too!

      • True. Usually I’d argue that a game exclusive to any console is going to be better than the same game developed for multi-platforms. However I think the scale of thatgamecompany’s games will mean it’s not so much of a problem.

It’s likely they wouldn’t support sixaxis tech in multi-platform games – which is a shame as they seem to be the only ones to use it without making it a gimmick – but I don’t think it will be a great loss. I don’t hink I used it on Journey apart from on the ski slope bits.

  3. I wish they would stay PS3/PSN Exclusive, shame :-(

  4. I’m sure it will be another “games are art” experience and therefore not appeal to me in the slightest lol :(

  5. I’m really looking forward to seeing what they come up with next!

  6. Spam?! On TSA?! :O
    Sod off please :D

  7. The unexpected harvest (of tinless spam)! :-D

  8. I hope thatnextgame will be as great as it’s predecessors. And I wish it’ll be on the PSV, as I’d like to see how they’d use it’s alternate control features.

  9. Christ, I thought Steven had left the top off of the White Spirits again but it’s just spam.

  10. Long as Microsoft don’t do there usual dirty tricks I’m sure that a multi-platform TGC game will be amazing.
