PSN Store Hit With 80023163 Errors

Presumably a hangover from the overnight party that was the latest run of scheduled maintenance, we’re getting reports in that some unlucky PlayStation 3 users are struggling to buy things from the PSN Store.

It seems that the PlayStation Store is kicking up an error – reference 80023163 – when a purchase or demo download is attempted.

Sony have let us know that they are aware of the matter, are working to get it fixed “as a priority”, say it’s “some users” rather than all affected. Hopefully this is just a short term thing and everything will be sorted quickly.

  1. Good job there was extended maintenance yesterday to enable Sony to continue to “deliver you a world-class online entertainment experience”

    • If they had something wonderful to announce they could tell us that and we’d be as patient as possible. However, the service appears very shoddy and inconsistent when there’s this much disruption. :-\

    as the old addage suggests “ya gets what ya pays for”
    free doesnt always mean good..(oh sorry the xbox fanboy inside me just slipped out)..

  4. Oh dear, I hope I can buy stuff!

    During yesterday maintenance I noticed that I could only sign in with Primary PSN accounts (first/main one on the console). Perhaps that’s why some people can’t usually sign in when there is maintenance, if they’re using 2nd or 3rd account?!?

        I still found it odd that only my (and my mates’) main PSN accounts would sign in – why would that be the case?

      • I thought this was brilliant. Made me laugh too. I find it strange how every gets so frustrated about PSN. it’s a free service, what do you expect?
        Fine if people want to go and pay £40 a year for playing online with the 360 then go ahead, no one is stopping you

    to be fair i have both systems and can honestly say that i prefer xboxlive..just a personal thing mate.

  8. PSN, eff you if you fall under SCEE. The new Slogan for PSN by SCEE. I know it’s blunt but i’m hot and cba to actually work on a clever slogan.

    So, the maintance was suppossed to break the store right? If not then what the heck has happened? *looks around to make sure noone is looking* They’ve coded in Cross Game chat and this is an unexpected side affect isn’t it? *gets sent to the naughty cave for bring up a recently deceased meme* :p

  9. Wow really? People butthurt over a little store issue, and PSN downtime? My God, life must really suck for some people to rely on a gaming console to be happy.
