Community Round-Up: 07/07/12

Morning all! It’s set to be a great weekend of sport, with the British Grand Prix and Andy Murray into the final at Wimbledon, I’d be surprised if you get any time for some gaming! In any case, here is this week’s Community Round-Up!

Kicking things off with the Meets, let’s see what’s happening this week!

Tonight, Bodachi hosts the usual Uncharted 3 meet beginning at 7pm, while tomorrow, R1MJAW hosts the DiRT Showdown meet at the usual time of 6pm.

Monday night begins with the Gran Turismo 5 Meet, featuring a DLC Mazda round Monza at 7pm, hosted by Jambo, followed by quinkill’s Max Payne 3 meet at 9pm. And lastly on Thursday, Youles hosts the DiRT 3 meet at 8pm.

Keep an eye out for Youles’s usual WipEout Vita meet on Friday at 9pm, as well as  Forrest’s Friday Night Battlefield Meet.

Or you could create your own Meet provided you have 250 TSA Points.

For the only ‘true’ review this week, Jim gives Duels of the Planeswalkers a solid 8/10, whilst Peter took a look at Skyrim’s Dawnguard expansion, sharing his impressions. Jim also took a look at Wrath of Heroes, BioWare Mythic’s upcoming PvP, and Alex looked at the XBLA title, Spelunky.

For Assassin’s Creed fans and history lovers, Peter followed up on last week’s excellent look at nationality with a couple more history lessons for you; firstly the game locations (with some extras thrown in for good measure) and a lovely timeline so you don’t get confused when you trek back in time. Alex has been his busy self as usual, firstly talking to Shawn McGrath about Dyad, before looking at five PS3 Exclusives to still be excited for.

Stefan presented the first Community Chronicle, the new community-focused weekly article to fill Meet the Reader’s void. The best thing about it is that you can get involved; you could take part in the comment of the week poll, show off your gaming set up and collections or let us know what you’ve achieved in the last week.

For WeView, catch the verdict for Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine, or leave your thoughts for Velocity, the PS Mini. To round us out, you can catch last Sunday’s Sunday Thoughts dedicated to Kris, and also What We Played #60 from Greg.

The Forums are once again a tad on the quiet side, hopefully they’ll pick up again next week:

Last time we had the first week of ‘Saturday Morning Showdown’s Head to Head Fight of the Champions’ presenting Optimus Prime from Transformers battling it out against Ratchet from the Ratchet and Clank Series. It was a close victory for Rachet, 6 – 5, very impressive for the little fella. This week sees Final Fantasy’s Sephiroth taking on Mirrors Edge’s Faith.

Sephiroth

Pros

  • Can destroy a planet.
  • Very skilled fighter and considered to be the very best.
  • Has an army of Fangirls to rely on.

Cons

  • Can only fly in a circle, due to only having one wing.
  • Was defeated by a boy, I’ll bet that was really embarrassing.
  • Could destroy a planet and yet he chooses to summon Meteor? So he is not very smart…

Faith

Pros

  • Brilliant at parkour, making her a perfect Runner.
  • An expert in hand-to-hand combat.
  • Can run so fast she can’t be hit by bullets. She’s like a real world Sonic.

Cons

  • When she’s NOT running fast enough, those bullets hurt.
  • Falls off buildings far too regularly.
  • Being an outlaw is cool and all, but boy is it a hard life! Treachery, deceit, man hunts, S.W.A.T. teams… Oh so very stressful. Her blood pressure must be through the roof!

And once again that concludes the roundup. Leave your votes below for the Showdown and I hope you all have a good week! Over and out!

  1. That Skittles Ad is one of the best ads Ive ever seen, if only it wasn’t banned, it could have boosted sales of Skittles big time. Share the rainbow, taste the rainbow

  2. There’s double xp on max Payne 3 this weekend too!

  3. who is this Shephironga guy anyway?? well, that nobody just got beaten up by Faith!!!
    my vote goes to Faith.

they say that hope is the last thing that abandons man is hope… but for Sephironga it’s Faiths fist!!
    *DING DING DING* KNOCKOUT!

    • I beleive there is a “DDDIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIEEEEEEEEE” coming from some where…

      • wait… what was that!?
ohh no wait it was just Sephironga taking a beating! :P

  4. I’m giving my vote to Faith. She can escape police helicopters shooting at her, so a one winged creature flying in circles is nothing to her.

  5. i watched that skittles ad, stunned.
i thought, “they wouldn’t do that, would they?”

turns out they wouldn’t, well, they might, but they didn’t, somebody else made it.

if they did, i could see why it’d get banned.
might be ok in sweden though.

and Faith for the head to head.
as powerful as Sephiroth is, Faith could run rings round him while he’s waiting for his ATB bar to fill up. ^_^

  6. Gotta be Faith!

  7. Just watched the ad, thats fairly amazing! And I’ll vote for Faith again, she’d kills me if I didn’t.

  8. Yeah that skittles ad clearly isn’t an official ad, just made by some dude but still funny.
I want to put a stop to this nonsense, faith would get battered. Sephiroth FTW.

  9. Got to go with faith because seph put snake out

  10. Faith all the way. Screw Sephiroth.
