Community Round-Up: 02/03/13

"Laura" Croft goes online.

Everyone’s now had some time to digest the events of the Playstation Meeting last week, which also means we can start getting excited for Microsoft’s Xbox event, currently rumoured to take place in April.

However, for now, rather than looking ahead, let’s take a quick look back at what’s happened on TSA in this week’s Community Round-Up.

There’s not a lot of competitions going on right now, but TSA’s Black Ops 2 league is well underway, with week 2’s fixtures being posted earlier this week. You’ll also find the early results and some video of what went on included.

Once again, the Meets are looking a fairly quiet, with Youles’s Tomb Raider Meet kicking things off on Wednesday night at 8pm, and a second meet scheduled for next Monday, the 11th, at 8pm.

Skipping back to this week, Dead or Alive 5 is set to become free on PS+, so Motella’s organised a meet on Friday at 7pm.

Hopefully the usual meets will pop up sooner rather than later, like GT5’s regular Monday shenanigans (which is now posted, maintenance willing). If you want to bulk things up a little then you can create your own Meet provided you’ve got 250 TSA Points.

CRU2 Wildfire

This week Blair reviewed Germinator, the PSN game from Creat Studios. He gave it a 6/10, concluding that while it’s not as good as PopCap’s games, it still offers “unique twist on the classic formula along with a bit of a challenge.” Jim followed with Dynasty Warriors 7 Empires, giving the game a 7/10, and described it as an improvement, but sadly not a milestone for the series.

As you can expect, Teflon’s been fairly busy, first previewing the indie title Wildfire Worlds, before getting his hands on the new Star Trek game. Peter also took a look at the Dead Space graphic novels and art book in a neat video feature.

The blogs and features have been a tad quiet, with just Alex explaining why he thinks it’s better for Sony to release GT6 on the PS3, rather than the PS4. He also ponders on “freemium” and how it might affect consoles in future, as well as what further revelations Next Gen might bring.

Chiile_UK showed off his gaming collection in the Chronicle, while Need for Speed: Most Wanted became the next WeView game for you to comment on. The Walking Dead walked away with 18 ‘Buy It’ recommendations in this week’s Verdict, so that’s definitely one to pick up if you have the time.

The Podcast took a break after last week’s double dose, so we finish off with Greg, who has What We Played #94 as usual.

Let’s take a look at the TSA Forums now:

That’s it for another week, I’ll see you next time, bye!

  1. The GT5 TGMEM meet only went up this morning. Maintenance on Monday but hopefully should still be ok

    • Could be a serious maintenance hiccup this week mate, GT5 can be fussy online anyway at times but this could literally throw a spanner in the works, pardon the pun……hopefully we can get on the PD servers though!

  2. I’m starting to get back into GT5. I’m a bit of a noob, don’t use a steering wheel (so will probably get owned by some of you guys) but i’ll sign up for some meets on it soon. Such a lovely game.

    • New recruits are always welcome, just send me a friend request (or a pm if my list is full and i’ll make space) when your ready to join us.

      • Nice. I don’t have any of the DLC (apart from the free cars they have released), will that matter?

      • It doesnt matter, we do race spa at times (particuarly for a no rules free for all) but only if everyone has it.

If you havent already check out the tgmemories thread in the forums for videos from the last few meets. Gives an idea of what we get up to.

  3. LOL. Thanks, tef… make me sound really desperate :P

Still, you know you’ve made it in the world of playstation when you get a mention in the pages of tsa.

  4. Damn, forgot to post about the TSA Fantasy F1 League! Will have to do it next week, only a few people have signed up so far :\

    • I was wondering about that yesterday after my sisters boyfriend made me watch the testing in 3D (argh, headache, I still don’t really like 3D). Great news, I’m in!

      • I’ve been watching it all, but not in 3D sadly. What’s it like? From what I’ve read, it doesn’t really work with the on-track shots, but works quite well in the pit-lane shots.
