Call Of Duty: Ghosts is releasing only a few weeks before the release of the next generation of consoles, which explains why the pre-order numbers are down on Black Ops II as people decide which platform to buy on. However, for those of you who have pre-ordered the current gen version and are looking to upgrade to the next gen version Activision has you covered.
If you buy the boxed PS3 version of Ghosts the game will come with a voucher that will allow you to upgrade to the PS4 version for £10/$10/€10. If you’re downloading the PS3 version then you will be offered an upgrade to include the PS4 version, also costing an extra £10/$10/€10. This offer will last until March 31st 2014.
For Xbox 360 owners Ghosts will be part of the Game Ahead program. This will allow you to buy a digital license in stores for both the current and next gen versions of the game for $69.99 (UK price likely similar). If you buy a digital copy of Ghosts for the 360 only through the Marketplace you’ll again be able to upgrade for £10/$10/€10. A boxed upgrade path, like the PS3 version, isn’t mentioned.
There are also the various trade in deals that will be occurring with GAME offering £40 trade in value up until December 24th on both Xbox 360 and PS3 versions. Other retailers will also offer trade in deals, but prices for those weren’t mentioned.
The Season Pass will transfer from this gen to next with no extra costs, and your stats and unlocks will also transition over.

Sounds good, but I doubt I’ll bother – I have other things to play until the PS4 version is released.
But people could I buy the PS3 version, remove the voucher, then sell it on immediately for a fraction of the price, effectively getting the PS4 version for £10 + whatever they lost on the initial sell-on. Could end up getting the PS4 version for about £15-£20.

Hmm, CoD will sell a lot on PS3 and not everyone will be buying a PS4…therefore I may try and just pick up one of these vouchers on eBay (unless it’s incorporated into some initial usage with the PS3 version or season pass/PSN account – I guess it’s likely they’ll have some safe-guard to prevent this kind of thing happening).

seems these plans have been scuppered as according to the ps blog update yesterday you have to put your ps3 disk in the ps4 to get the digital copy to work if you upgrade via code.
