Community Round-Up: 19/10/13

Hey there! This week marks the beginning of what could be a new regular feature of the Round-up, and it’s going to need your participation!

We’ll get to that later, but right now, let’s look back at what’s happened on TSA in this week’s Community Round-Up.

  CRU BANNER - comps tearaway

Tearaway is Media Molecule’s upcoming Vita game, and once again we’ve teamed up with PriceSpy for a little competition.

The full details can be read in the article, but all you need to do is ‘Like’ both of our Facebook pages, or alternatively you can enter via email. The give-away is also to mark the fact time is ticking down for PriceSpy’s Gadget Guru competition which ends in just under two weeks now!

We’ve also got the continuing competition with Curve Studios, giving you the chance to win some rather unique prizes from Lone Survivor. The winner won’t just receive a faux-PS2 disc with the game; they’ll also receive a rare signed print and an even rarer plush Sleepy Cat. Runners up will receive PSN codes for the game, and best of all this competition isn’t just limited to the UK!

You’ve only got a little time let to get your entries in, as the competition will close tomorrow, October 20th at 17:00 BST, after which we’ll announce the winners on the 21st.

CRU Banner - meets F1

Looking at the Meets now, the only meet currently set up is Tomhlord’s F1 2013 Meet, which takes place on Wednesday at 7pm.

That brings us to an idea which blackredyellow had for a fewture, where you can submit photo’s, videos or mini-write ups of TSA Meets that have taken place during the previous week. A lot of Meets are either arranged in the Forums, or get created after this article has been written, so they don’t get the attention they deserve. Hopefully this will change things!

So, using the entry form at the bottom of the page, you can submit anything that you want, related to Meets you have taken part in over the week. At first this will just run on a trial basis, as I’ll only be able to run it if you guys are providing me with things from the front line! Content can include anything such as screenshots, links to videos, or just a mini-write up of something funny that happened, and I’ll be sure to include it, providing you submit them before Friday afternoon/evening so I have time to pop them in!

CRU BANNER - article - nfs

It was another busy week on the Preview front, so let’s dive straight in with Stefan and Need For Speed: Rivals, which is sounding great. After Blair had a go on both current-gen and next-gen FIFA 14 versions, Tuffcub looked at Super Exploding Zoo, an upcoming Vita game.

Stefan returned with some thoughts about the Battlefield 4 Beta, before turning his attention to Journey Of A Roach, which is a PC point-and-click game releasing in November.

After dying a lot in his video preview of War Of The Vikings,  he had a look at the community focus of Magicka: Wizard Wars‘ development. Lastly, he donned his cape for Lego Marvel Super Heroes, which he also spoke to Arthur Parsons about.

Turning our attention to the Reviews now, Jim found Dragon’s Crown slightly disappointing, and gave it 5/10 as a result. Another disappointing game was Girl Fight, which Tuffcub gave a 3/10 in his rather hilarious review, but ending on a more positive note, Dom El seemed to enjoy Sonic: Lost World enough to give it a 7/10, saying the 2D stages were fun, whizzing across bridges and loops in true Sonic style. Peter also chipped in with a word or two on the Wii U version.

While not quite a Review, Blair created this handy guide to see if Beyond Two Souls is for you, and Dumb Ways To Die from Jim featured in this week’s Mobile Watch. In the latest Playback, Skylanders Giants was revisited by Jim, as Aran and a Matter of Perspective looked at Dishonoured, while Unholy Heights was at the attention of Gamoc in Indie Focus.

Looking at the community articles, the Chronicle showcased Airiaen’s gaming rig (complete with a cat), as The Last of Us had a landslide victory of ‘Buy It’ Votes (28 in total!) in it’s Verdict, while LittleBigPlanet Karting replaces it as the next WeView game.

Following the news that the Angry Birds Trilogy was heading to Vita with the price of £34.99, Blair had a look at 5 things that were cheaper than the game, including actual birds and an IKEA office chair.

You can catch up with what the gang have been playing in What We Played #127 from Greg, or listen to Episode 116 of the Podcast. Newsdesk Episode #17 from Josh featured all the latest news from last week, and that rounds us off for the articles!

The Forums are looking quite quiet this week, with most of the discussion again happening in existing threads.

  • Hardly surprising, but people are still talking about GTA Online and organising Meets!
  • People are also discussing their PS4 pre-orders, and which bundles they’re getting from where.
  • And of course, people are still sharing about what games they’re currently playing.

That’s it for this week. Remember, if you take part in any meets, or have anything you want to submit, then please do so and I’ll include it next week!

As I mentioned earlier, this feature was suggested by a reader, so if you have any suggestions or improvements then let me know in the comments and I’ll be sure to take them on board. Anyway, I’ll see you next time, bye!

  1. Like the idea of mini write ups etc for meets.
Hoping to make the F1 meet on Wednesday but not sure if I’ll make it.

  2. I too might join the F1 meet on Wednesday but I only have the standard edition and as far as I know they haven’t patched the issue with joining people with the classic edition yet.

    • They’ve patched the PC version of the game with an option to switch downloadable content on/off when setting up a race which allows players with any version of the game to join a lobby…..buuut the PS3/XBox patch is in testing and verification before submission and authorisation by the big two.

So erm no, still not patched but it is a WIP!

  3. finally took the plunge!
got myself a vita from argos £139.99 8G Card killzone and virtua tennis.
already filled the card with the stuff from plus.
    so far lovin’ it!
