Community Round-Up: 02/11/13

We’re well and truly into the Q4 release season! Last week saw Battlefield 4 and Assassins Creed IV Black Flag hitting the shelves, and on Tuesday, Call of Duty will be making it’s annual appearance too.

But, if you’re not getting stuck into some of those games and have 5 minutes to spare, read on for this week’s Community Round-Up!

CRU Banner - meets dirt

With the Tearaway competition just having closed, there are no competitions right now as we await the results, so we’ll begin with the Meets… of which there aren’t any sadly. Hopefully they’ll pop up during the week as usual. And, if you’ve got more than 250 TSA Points, you can create your own Meet, as per usual.

Oh, and apart from a few Chinese spammers, there wasn’t anything submitted as part of the Meets Community Content, so unfortunately our trial period has come to an end and we’ll be saying goodbye to that feature that never really got going.

The only Preview we saw this week was from Stefan, with Putty Squad and Pinball Arcade both games of which are headed for the PS4 and have already or will be released on a host of other platforms.

You’ll be pleased to know we’ve got a lot more Reviews than just that single Preview, so let’s dive in with Peter, who this week gave an impressive 9/10 to Football Manager 2014 and an 8/10 to  Professor Layton And The Azran Legacy for the 3DS.

Fans of the Batman Arkham series have nothing to fear, as Warner Bros Montreal lived up to Rocksteady’s high standards with Batman: Arkham Origins, for which Stefan gave an 8/10, while Goodbye Deponia received a 7/10.

Blair gave 6/10 to Master Reboot, while Gamoc looked at one of the week’s big games, Assassins Creed IV: Black Flag. It sounds like a big improvement over AC3, which I was disappointed with, and that review has definitely got me interested in the sequel. Peter also had a video first look at the game if you want to see some footage for yourself.

For the final review this week, Dan Lee looked at the Wii U game, Mighty Switch Force! 2, which received a 7/10.

Onto the Community articles now, and Hot Topics featured comments regarding resolutions and also the latest PS4 adverts in the Chronicle, while from the Blogs, Blair talked about Pokémon X and Y, Kris talked about Dinosaur Hunter HD, and Peter looked at Proteus.

For WeView, Hotline Miami becomes the new game after Remember Me, which is currently free on PS+, was well received in it’s Verdict.

Batman fans can double dose on articles, firstly with Jim revisiting Arkham City in PlayBack, and Arkham Origins featuring in Mobile Watch.

Aran looked at the Modern Warfare storylines from Call of Duty in a Matter of Perspective, while Teleglitch: Die More Edition featured in IndieFocus from Gamoc.

Rounding off the articles in the usual way, there’s What We Played #129 from Greg and Newsdesk Episode #19 from Josh. The Podcast returned after a week off with Episode 117, with the whole gang back and in good voice.

That’s it for this week. The Forums were turned off after a security incident was detected and stopped in its tracks on Thursday night, so there’s no dedicated section this week, but hopefully they’ll be back up and running soon enough.

Anyway, I’ll see you all next time – bye!

  1. After preordering it last night, would anyone be up for some COD meets this week?
It would be good to have some private lobby games to get used to the maps and have a laugh.

    • I’m not entirely sure I am getting the game bacause of having the money. i have credit wit game, but its useless because they charge more anyway. I’ll know more later this week, but if theres a chance of some TSA meets then that’s an incentive. I presume you’re talking about the ps3 version right?

      • Yep, PS3. Once the forums are up I’ll create a thread so we can see how many people are up for it and organise stuff.

  2. Good to see the TSA forum pit bull is keeping us safe from the nasty, sweaty, grabby crims! Hope you guys aren’t having too much of a hard time sorting things out.
