12 Deals Of Christmas Deal Ten: Assassin’s Creed 4 & Pixeljunk Monsters: Ultimate HD

Remember a few days ago, when you could get Battlefield 4 for PS3 for £25 in one of these 12 Deals of Christmas offers, and then upgrade it to the PS4 version for an extra tenner?

Well they’re at it again, as the PlayStation Store’s latest offer teams up with Ubisoft to offer up Assassin’s Creed IV: Black Flag on PS3 for just £19.99/€29.99, a rather healthy 2/3rds off. Not only is that the cheapest I think the game has been so far, but you can then factor in the extra 10% discount for being a PS+ member, making it £17.99, and that you can then upgrade it to PS4 for £9.99 via the Digital Upgrade Programme. (You would need to do this by 31/01/14 for AC4)

So, anyone want AC4 on PS4 for £28?

Check out Gamoc’s review and upgrade impressions, if you need any convincing.

Alongside this on PS Vita, you have the lovely re-release of Pixeljunk Monsters: Ultimate HD for £3.99/€4.99, also with that extra 10% discount for being part of PS+.

There’s also a selection of films available, depending on your country:

  1. Black Flag on PS4 for £28? Bargain :)

  2. dammit, that’s a pretty damn good price on ACIV…

    • Looking at it though, I still have a problem with paying £28 for this game digitally. I’ve just been having a look through eBay and some online retailers. You can get Black Flag brand new from Amazon with a discount code for £39 delivered, its £42 in a few other places as well.

The digital download deal is £28, but you have zero resale value. Used copies of AC4 on PS4 (on eBay) are consistently going for around £40 (one for £55 which boggles the mind due to being able to buy it NEW from an online retailer cheaper).

So even if you end up playing ACIV for a few months I’d expect you to be able to get £30+ after fees, so you’d lose in the region of £10 max (estimated) as opposed to £28 – because lets face it, I don’t know about most people but once I’ve finished with a game, unless it was exceptional or had a really good online component – I doubt I’d play through it all again.

Maybe that’s just me though /shrug. Also, I can’t comment on the online component of ACIV as I’ve not tried it.

      • If you can £30 for a game a few months after release let us know where, because you’re getting better than anyone else.

      • I kinda agree and have always been somewhat adverse to buying games digitally but this is too good a deal to pass on considering it’ll prob be a while before general retail hits sub £30 and I will buy it eventually – may as well get it now while the choice of quality PS4 titles is relatively low…

As for trading games – I always used to but then regretted not being able to go back to old faves like Timesplitters, DK64, Super Mario Sunshine etc etc. Now I’m a hoarder – only PS3 game I’ve ever traded in was Black Ops cos I genuinely didn’t like it. I have over 80 PS3 games sat on shelves here lol

  3. That’s a good deal. I was thinking about trading in my disk GAME give you £30 trade in. You can get PSN credit with that but it’s too much of a waste of time. Also it was birthday present.

    • Assassin’s creed I was on about also Ps4 version.

  4. Bugger, got AC4 for £50 last week. The risk we take with the next-gen tax I guess.

    • Bloody ouch! I have it for £29.99 under the Christmas tree for my PC. Saying that, you can sell your copy after you’re done which makes a hell of a difference.

      • It’s actually the first AC I’ve bought since AC2 on PC, which continually crashed thanks to Ubi’s horrific DRM at the time.

Thoroughly enjoying 4 though, and despite being cheaper if I’d held off, I’m happy with the buy (after getting 32 quid from selling Knack towards the purchase).

You’ll have a good gaming Christmas with it post-the-25th.

    • Same here, for like 65$ delivered. Oh well, like you said, risky business.

  5. Damn it I told myself I wasn’t going to buy any more games in the lead up to Xmas but this seems too cheap not to!

    • Done deal. And somewhat of a landmark… The first full retail game bought digitally. There should be a trophy for that! :-)

  6. No way I was going pay £50 for AC4 but £28 is a done deal, shame there are so few (announced) trade up offers.

  7. Yes, even a cheap bugger like myself could resist Black Flag and the PS4 upgrade……

    • Black flag, Installed and ready to play on my PS4. Not going home tonight so gonna give some remote play on my vita a whirl. See if it cuts the mustard over t’internet….

  8. So you can save £2.50 (or £4.50 with PS+) compared to how much it costs on Amazon?

With the benefit there or having the actual physical disc. (Which then stops being a benefit if you upgrade to the PS4 version and have to download it AND keep the disc as well)

Not really much of a deal, is it? And what are Amazon thinking too? Buy the PS3 version for £22.49 and upgrade it for a tenner, or pay £49 for the PS4 version??

  9. Bad luck buying AC4 last week. I have lost £10 in a week…

I just couldn’t wait any longer without new games for my new shiny toy!

  10. Arg! I thought I had outsmarted them when I bought the digital download PS4 version of AC4 from the US PSN store for $60 (£36.65) last week. Much cheaper than the £55ish the UK store is charging. Now they pull this trick!?

    Well played Sony, well played…
